280.xx Beta drivers are now available on Nvidia's site. Haven't tested them yet. Only mentions DA2 with respect to SLI issue.

Able to run the game at very high settings now albeit testing for an hour or so.

From the 280.19 BETA release notes, I can see:

º [SLI], GeForce 400 Series: Dragon Age 2–shadows glitches occur.
º [SLI], GeForce 500 Series: Dragon Age II (DirectX 11)–shadows flicker in the cutscene
when SLI is enabled.

And... that's it. My own graphics card is the GTX 285, far from being a 400 or 500 series GPU, and it's not in SLI anyway. I do hope that the release notes do not include every single fixes for Dragon Age II, because that's disappointing. I'll give a try to the WHQL version of the 280 drivers when they come out, but if it still crashes with them it means that NVIDIA still haven't fixed the problem at least not for all the series of Geforce.

Am going to download the beta drivers (so gonna regret this) and try it. Give me.... 10 minutes (I'll post if there's a difference made on the Legacy tech issues thread - will the cassandra bug)

So far, new drivers (280.19 beta) working *perfectly* in legacy.

Will check other crash I've encountered later on. Having too much fun with the DLC on my 3rd.. or is it 4th playthrough.

Using DirectX 11 with my 560Ti, I can play about 10 minutes with the 290.19-beta-drivers before the game crashes. That's a big step forward, with the old drivers the game crashed after 1 or 2 minutes.

The fight with the bronto, at the beginning of legacy. But it was the same kind of crash I had with the old drivers everytime I tried DX11, so I don't think that it depends on the content.

Well, I've not had any crashes on legacy after downloading the beta drivers.
Sorry I can't be of much help on this count.

Heh. Well, enough playing around with legacy, time to see if the other crash i encountered is still happening. :)

Hmm...I have a 560 Ti and no crashes yet with the new beta drivers (knocks on wood).  Forgot to mention I play with DX11 enabled with everything set highest.

I've tested the new beta drivers with a few places and cinematics where game was crashing with 100% certainty on v275.33. It seems to be fixed (GTX 570 card).

Another thing - with 275 drivers on "very high" setting, I've noticed some shadows appearing/disappearing when I rotated the camera. This glitch is now also gone.

Off topic: this driver release has also solved the extremly low fps issue with NWN. :-)

We've received word from nVidia that the 280.19 beta drivers are now up on www.nvidia.com under “Driver Downloads” -> “Beta and Archived Drivers.”

Let us know if that fixes it for you.

Thanks,
Rob

I think the beta driver is working. None of the previous crashes I've had have happened.

Hey, Rob, you're quite a few... hours... behind the rest of us. I forgive you. :P

Whoops! Note to self... must hit refresh before posting. :P

Glad to hear that the beta drivers appear to be working!

I downloaded the dlc on my pc in the end of the 2nd act, and it froze my pc. I had to reboot my pc and then I found my mouse wouldn't work. I never even got to look for the statue because I spent the rest of the evening trying to get my computer back in working condition. Had to defragment, uninstall DA2, and reinstall it, it was a nightmare. I guess I'll just have to write off the 800 points I bought because I'm afraid to try to download it again. It's weird, because DA2 plays just fine on my pc.

DX11 performance is still pretty terrible, but the shadow glitch seems to be fixed. Also, with the latest beta, I'm now getting these brief pauses while playing. Whether you're just walking along or in a battle, the game will momentarily freeze, then continue on like normal. Switching back to DX9 fixes this and the pausing/freezing no longer occurs.

With Beta 280.19 everything is fixed in DX11 and runs great here, 3 hours playing so far without a single issue on a single GTX580.

Also according to nVidia this driver has already received WHQL certification and they will re-release it soon:

Hmm. Trying out 280.19 now. This is the 7th driver version I've tried since I bought DA2. Hopefully this is finally the one that will have "no" issues (or at least get me back to having "minimal" issues).

I've been running DA2 with the 280 beta drivers for about 6 hours (Windows 7 32-bit, GeForce 460GTX, DX11 on Very High with all but diffusion enabled) with no problems so far. No longer getting the "shadow ring", performance degrade or crashes that I was with the last drivers.

Good to hear.  Will try on my 560Ti and see if Legacy becomes playable.

Off topic: Does that include NWN2 as well :)

Anyone else getting the "Could not detect graphic hardware" error when attempting to install the beta drivers? Running on Windows 7 64-bit with a GTX 580.
