Hmm. Trying out 280.19 now. This is the 7th driver version I've tried since I bought DA2. Hopefully this is finally the one that will have "no" issues (or at least get me back to having "minimal" issues).

The 280.19 driver is better. I think it gets me back to having just "minimal" issues. I was able to change back to highest graphics settings and get into Legacy without the persistant hang/crash. Still got a random crash after about 3 hours though, which equals about the best performance I've had with any of the other driver versions. I'm running win7 64bit and a single GTX580.

-update-
Well so much for that. It's crashed twice now in about 15 minutes. May be time to reduce settings again and hope that driver #8 is better. After many years of being a "Nvidia guy", I think the party is over.

Anyone else getting the "Could not detect graphic hardware" error when attempting to install the beta drivers? Running on Windows 7 64-bit with a GTX 580.

Do you have multiple monitors?  I installed the beta drivers with win7 64bit and a 560Ti.  No issues.  I did an update install instead of a clean install (first time I've ever tried just updated or not wipeing my old drivers clean off.  seems to be fine so far).

Nope, running it on a single monitor. The error pops up at the very start of the installation process.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm an idiot. Figured it out. xP

My suspicion is there are some memory leaks in the game itself - after a while of gameplay my combat starts to have delays of 1 or 2 seconds between the animation and then the skill taking effect (about equal to what I used to get on DA:O after a while of gameplay). Thankfully, no crashes so far.

This doesn't seem to be a widespread problem...and since every driver you have tried has also crashed, even known
good' drivers that play nice with DA2, wouldn't you think it could be something to do with the card itself?

Ahh yes, only nvidia cards have such problem (as far as I can tell). Perhaps he has tried BETA 280.19 drivers, but it's still beta. WHQL version is supposed to eliminate Beta bugs. I think it's obvious to know that Beta stuff is not always stable for everyone.

I hope so. Just tested out the beta drivers and the game crashed about 30 minutes in. I'll be reverting back to lower settings for now.

^If you have digital version of the game, e.g. steam, you can scan for cache integrity. My game was crashing on 280.xx on Very High settings until I've scanned for integrity and had to redownload 1,5gb of game files. (I've bought DAII few days before it was removed from steam). Now it's working fine. 3 hours of playing and no crashing, no stuttering, etc.

My game is from the box though so it might not be because of that. :< I really hope it's just an issue with beta drivers and that the official release will be much more stable. It's such a waste of the DX11 renderer's graphic potential. The game runs on DX9 with no problems.

Nvidia's drivers are a mess, that's for sure.  I just switched over from an ATI 4890 to a GTX 570.  275.XX WHQL drivers broke DA2 on Very High settings.  But, the beta 280 driver seems to have resolved that issue.

I have actually had better luck with their Beta releases than the WHQL releases...but, who knows?

280.19 Driver, GTX 570 - the game is finally playable for me on DirectX 11 Very High, all options enabled, 4xAA.

I checked out my typical slowdown points: Lothering, and Hightown right after meeting Varric. No artifacts or striated lines across the display. And I'm now averaging 47 fps, where I could only get a stuttering 30-35 FPS at most before.

The only issue is that the characters' feet still sink into the tesselated ground a bit.

Isn't it possible that BioWare could look at the driver code, and make a patch on their side? CDPR did in Patch 1.3, and Nvidia matched it in 275.33.

Why should they? The game played fine until Nvidia released 275.xx. The issue is on their side.

Mind you that the 275.33 works wonders with just about any other piece except Dragon Age 2. It seems a little strange to me to just tell customers to wait for a new driver version when the current one is working perfectly fine with virtually all current software. A hotfix on Bioware's side would be highly appreciated.

The WItcher 2 is running magnificently with that driver.

I'm running DA2 on 275.33 in DX 11.

The solution is to change DA2 from "Very High" to "High".

The only thing I notice now is a periodic slowdown in cinematic animation. It doesn't occur very often, and I can deal with that.

The best thing is my system isn't crashing on DX 11 High, so 275.33 can still be used with DA2, which is great news if you also own Witcher 2.Image IPB

So far, 280.19 also worke with TW2. Admittedly, I didn't play for very long, but thus far it seems stable.

problem with 280.19 is it seems to be unstable in some games that 275.33 was not, i just gave up and went to the 270.90 telsa and surprisingly everything is running fine, including DA2 and W2. (of course no Vision 3d installed)

i have to say there has a bad news
the latest driver still  the game crash by using highest graphics settings

there is only way to avoid the crash with 280.26 whql

just set the graphics settings on high

i already play 2 hours on high settings with 280.26

and faced the crash in 10 min on  highest settings with 280.26

or you can choose the driver what is under 275.33

find the problem is 2 months ago , the bioware & nvidia still have not any solution on it

i felt very disappointment

ps:sorry for my poor english

Crap, thanks for the headsup Tinamiss :) The game will just dust fine until this is sorted properly out, if ever. ME3 around the corner 'soon' and hopefully, seriously.... hopefully we wont see this kinda BS there :)

I have played for at least 10 hours on 280.19 (the Beta driver released the day Legacy was released) and have had no crashes. This new driver, 280.26 is simply the WHQL version of that one and nothing has changed.

If you are worried about this driver, don't be. It plays nice with both The Witcher 2 and DA2.

There are reports that 280.26 WHQL is making cards hotter than usual. Nvidia acknowledges this and will be issuing a fix of sorts. Just be careful.

I tried the latest 280.26 driver, but it altered my resolution enough that playing NWN1 became extremely problematic; reloaded old driver for now.
