How about a ponytail for Ashley?

So it seems there's quite a rift in the opinions on Ashley's new looks. While it appears opinions are pretty much  split on her new outfit, the general consensus on her hair seems to be overall rather negative. I've seen a few people who seem OK with it, but I think everyone can agree that it could be better.

Clearly bioware thought it was time to give her a new look. That's great, she hasn't had a makeover since 2007 it was time for a change. I think the biggest complaint, from what I've gathered, is that her hair seriously obstructs her vision. The super practical Ashley we know from Mass Effect 1 just isn't ever going to wear her hair like that. Really no one in a combat situation would. And yes, I realize Miranda tramped around in stilletos all last game so any sense of realism in this sense is gone, but what I imagine would be a really easy fix for this and since bioware clearly wants to show off her longer hair is that she puts it in a pony tail instead. It's practical, lets them show off how they're making hair better in ME3, and can look pretty hot. Which I imagine is the look they're going for. :P

Anyways, would that work? I mean honestly I'm OK with it being in her eyes like that, I just think they can do better. And since the game is still so early in developement, I'm pretty sure they can still change it to something else if we make a case for it. I'm also not even sure a ponytail would be best, I'm just throwing an alternative out there.

Its better then what she has now.Aside if someone like the new look or not,its retarded in combat because it make aim more difficult( obvious in the first pic).

I'm cool with that. My only issue is that she kind of looks like Miranda with her hair out. The catsuit isn't helping her case either.

They were saying in the E3 interview that you quite literally pick up your squad mates while they're in the middle of their daily lives. I'm assuming Ashley was attending some sort of honorary / military / political gathering. Hopefully that explains why she is dressed the way she is.

She kind of reminds me of Starbuck from the new battlestar. She is masculine, but she knows how to clean up.

Oh, I hope that's the case. It would make more sense if she had it loose for dressing up/formal (or even just on the Normandy) but then a more practical style for combat. It fits her personality better. I know the characters have 'matured' and 'developed' and all that, but I'm not sure why that would mean 'developing' a taste for impracticality. The catsuit I could perhaps ignore. The hair, not so much.

Hopefully that's just her casual wear, and she ties her hair back and wears armour in combat.

For all we know she was at your trial and she ran off in a different direction and got picked up first.

Now I want Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on my team. =/ She was amazing! Although she pissed me off sometimes.
.
And Ashley will probably change her hair.

It looks like she's got makeup on, which leads me to believe that maybe she was dressed up for a night out on the town and then all hell broke loose. If you're riding out for battle, I can't see the need to put mascara and eyeliner on......

The only thing that first picture proves is that the hair is obscuring our view of her face. She can probably see just fine.

I seriously doubt she's going to have a casual outfit. Though if we could see kaidan in one of these demos we'd know for sure.

Exactly. (Removed because nobody can take a joke) Her suit hardly gives her that vibe anymore. So hopefully thats the case. Especially since I found out some spoilerific stuff about her earlier today. I'm 95% positive that will explain it.

Ponytail is DA2 territory, I wonder how her cult is doing.

Not anymore in my Mass Effect.

Face and hair are ok. The main issue is her light-light-armor.
In onr word: too much.

I think the new hair looks absolutely fantastic.

I think that onboard the Normandy, she could have free hair and even a catsuit. But on missions, she should tie up her hair to prevent it from obscuring her view, and she should wear proper armour.

I personally love her new look; They shouldn't even think about changing it. =)
Perhaps give her the pony tail and an Alliance suit as an alternate look we can use or unlock. If they do that, though, I'd like the pony tail to be longer/bigger, like that picture in the first post in this topic, not like in ME1 and ME2.

Also, I can see this new character design reflecting her new personality and "job"; That is, she is now a Spectre. Perhaps she has a bit more of a Renegade attitude now. (There were hints of that in ME1, especially at the end)

The hell

She's not a xenophobe.  Overly cautious, probably.  Xenophobe?  Not even close.

And as for being a virgin.....well, she isn't on one of my playthroughs for sure :innocent:

I'm really confused at what made him think Ashley is a virgin. She never says she is, she never hints at it, and if anything, her cavalier attitude (compare with Tali and Liara, who actually both ARE virgins) towards sex, and I'm really scratching my head.

Maybe there will be something in that Alt. Appearance pack for her in the Collector's Edition, for those who don't like the new look.

Well since she's no longer a virgin in my canon playthrough, I guess the new look is justified.
