This was only done in ME2 for major decisions (that would have a later impact), not common dialogues (aside from "continue conversation" vs "investigate"). It would be too convenient for the only dialogues shown at E3 to all be major decisions when they were trying to avoid spoilers in the first place.TheSt3alth wrote...
There were points in ME2 where there were only 2 options. My bet is that this was one of the points in ME3.

I think they're going to trade it in for bigger differences in the story (ie. choices from the first two games possibly doubling the amount of dialogue they'd have to do), and better cinematic quality overall.
TBH, I'm totally understanding of the amount of work that it would require to tie all of the variables together. Quality is more vital than quantity in ME3's case. It's a curse and a blessing; to have all of these different outcomes over three games, you need to accept that there has to be sufficient dialogue for each, so minute differences in the dialogue won't be as minute as we've seen before.
On the other hand, I'm really liking the cinematic direction so far. Just as long as we still have the occasional scene where the roleplaying is in-depth and as detailed as LotSB or Ashley's Normandy convos in ME1, I'll be fine with less control.

For me it's a non-issue.

There had to be a balance, and only 2 options was that balance.

I'd still like to have the default "Hurr derp." Neutral response, if only to give the illusion that there's more choices (let's be honest, no one uses those). I like choices.Eterna5 wrote...

Because we are being given less freedom with Shepard than in the previous two games. Look at mass effect 2 and take note at how many times the game takes control of Shepard dialogue/decision wise. It will only get worse in mass effect 3. Shepards becoming "default" so to speak. this is typical of any shooter.

Is that any different than in ME1 wher we get given 3 different option on how to respond, only for Shep to say the exact same thing, in the same tone of voice, for all 3 options?
