I doubt Shepard is going to go around the galaxy saying, "I told you so."  With (assuming) the Reapers devasted the Batarian system(s) [mentioned in live stream Reapers came through a Batarian system and now making their way north], and now attacking earth and human colonies, will people still doubt Shepard or are they scrambling their own defenses?

I also assume that the Citadel will be on high alert as well

It will be a two part struggle:

First, get as many of the other races ready and willing to work together to retake Earth.
Second, try to find something somewhere that can actually give the organics a chance to defeat the Reapers.

The Reapers are spreading their forces throughout the galaxy, or at least I think so.

So, yeah, they are probably trying to defend their own planets.

Kinda makes me wonder how Shepard is going to help them.

Logically you would die, and the cycle would go on. But I am sure the writers will figure something out, some glaring oversight or just nerf the reapers like they did with the benezia boss in ME1.

Ya, it looks like they are hitting Pavalen and Tuchanka, but it seems like there's only one Reaper on Tuchanka and only a few at Pavalen. So they are probably focusing on Earth and Bioware probably set the plot so that in order to get an alien race to help you, you need to destroy the small Reaper force they sent.

The main thing that bugs me is why the hell are the Turians evacuating from Pavalen to their moon? Why the hell would you move from a planet being attacked from the Reapers to a moon orbiting the planet being Repearized? They have to avoid or fight through any Reapers in orbit, then they're in really convenient striking distance, and it appears the moon is barren so big settlements of Turian refugees kindof stick out.

I hope the writers do a better job with overall plot this time around. It seemed pretty lackluster in ME2(Human reaper...mmmk). It'll be really disappointing if Shepard ends up defeating the reapers in some ridiculously unbelievable way that breaks our suspension of disbelief.

I'm a pretty sure a deus ex machina moment will come up one or the other, at some point in the game. It won't make any sense most likely, but it WILL be there.

Shepard finds info that the protheans were on the verge of finding a way to **** up reaper good before being annihilated. Shepard find weapon, kill reaper and get the girls.

I also assume that the Citadel will be on high alert as well

Actually once I'm off earth and get to choose where to go, the first place I'm going to is the citadel for the express purpose of saying "I told you so"
