Ok, I added Fenris to my "army" and took the Sunder ability earlier.  Later I was testing and I had everything turned off with a Dexterity of 12 and my critical chance was only at 2%.  I wanted to see what would happen, so I used a Maker's Sigh and his Critical Chance went to -8%.  Not sure what's going on here, but there's a bug with Sunder.  I re-added sunder, and I went back up to 12%.  Saved, loaded, and was still at 12%.  Could it be a bug when you die or something?  I can try that in a bit.

My warrior Hawke has the same -8 critical chance after the patch.

Ok, tested a bit and it's definitely sunder. I can save and load normally before, but once I get it, I take sunder, my stat goes up 10%, save, load, and I still have sunder but I'm back to the original stat. I've even tried starting without it, taking it, using a maker's sigh, and saving and loading before assigning to it, but it still removes the 10% drop.

This only seems to happen once, in that when I use a maker's sigh after I've already had the stat drop, I do go into negatives, but then I save and load and I'm back to the original percentage. However, taking sunder after that I still can't retain the bonus. I haven't tried taking sunder prior to saving and loading after a maker's sigh that removed sunder...

I have been following a similar thread over at the PC forum, where the bug was first discovered. Since this pops out in the X360 forum, we can assume that this bug occurs across all platform <_<

Seems like different people trigger the bug differently. Did yours somehow get "fixed" after readding sunder after Maker's Sigh? Unfortunately, there is no way for us to check the stats in the save game editor unlike the PC users.

I haven't touched DA2 in a while but this bug makes me gonna leave 1.02 until it is more widely addressed :?

When I used maker's sigh, I went from 2% critical to -8%. Upon saving and reloading, though, I was back up to 2%. Adding Sunder again, though, made me go up to 12%. However, saving and reloading dropped that back down to 2%. In other words, I seem to be able to not have a negative modifier after a maker's sigh, but don't seem to be able to retain the Sunder bonus after saving and loading.

Does anyone know if the penalty for this can stack? I'd still like to take this ability for the purposes of actually getting the 20% chance of staggering, but not if my crit chance is going to go into the negatives!

Under the new system (that was introduced to retro-fix the Slo-Mo issues) it can't stack. Everytime you save/load it recalculates all your values. For whatever reason this system isn't working specifically for Sunder due.

For a quick overhead view:

- Learning Sunder properly adds the 10% crit
- Save/Load improperly thinks you don't have sunder and therefore, under the new system, resets your value to 0
- Using Maker's Sigh after this point will strip 10% since it still thinks you have Sunder (you'll be -10 at this point)
- Save/Load at this point with put you back to 0

SO, basically right now Sunder doesn't functionally give any crit rating, more or less.

If you have another patch 'fixing' the warrior can we get a reasonable base damage modifier for two handed weapons. A dagger currently does more damage than a claymore. Sunder should also include a chance to reduce armor rating IMHO.

Ok, thanks for the update Luke. Good to know I can still take the ability for the Stagger effect. And, who knows, perhaps it will be fixed in the next patch :).

How to avoid Sunder bug.

First, If you allready have it, you must load a pre-Sunder talent save. At least the bug is not retroactive.

Once you have picked the Sunder talent, then remove Sunder talent before every future save, thus:
(1) Equip 2h Hawke with 1h sword, then save, and your saves are allright and bug free.
(2) Or drink Maker's Sigh, then save, then rebuild Hawk after load.

Fenris must, before every save, either do the Maker's Sigh rutine, or be removed from party (peacefully by yourself or forcibly by the game).

It's an annoying little bug if you use Fenris a lot, and quite expensive! But otherwise easy to avoid.

Dang! Fenris got the bug. Removing him from party before save worked for a time, many times in fact. Now however, a couple of level-ups since I saw him last, I add him, and he's bugged. Meaning he should have drunk a Maker's Sigh before I removed him the last time. My 2h Hawk w / Sunder is still fine though. Changing from 2h to 1h weapon before save works well.

Ditto. Pretty please with sugar on top. I need this talent, poor Fenris can't seem to stagger anything worth a crap anymore so I'd really like to use Sunder for the stagger boost.

I think this make Aveline unfairly overpowered since she has an auto stagger sheild bash and can get great damage off of disorients from fatiguing fog (which disorients like crazy) AND can take a beating like it's nobody's business. Damn, even one of her sustains got a threat generation boost I think. Omg, what I wouldn't give for a threat generation boost on Lyrium Ghost... *droolz* lol Well it wasn't in her special tree but in the W/S tree, but still, as a companion it still op for her to get it and Fenris to just get nerfed and bugged with Sunder.

And no, I'm not saying nerf fatiguing fog/disorient or Aveline or W/S, just please make Sunder perform as it should without nerfing 2 hander's crit chance.

I found a temporary workaround for this bug. If at any time you get hit with the penalty, equip a one hander, save, and reload. Since the game checks for modifiers each time it loads a save, it doesn't factor the sunder penalty in since it applies to two handers only. Still a pain, but it's cheaper than using a Maker's Sigh each time. Equipping a one hander before every save prevents it from happening at all as well.

Unfortunately, you have to change weapon types to use this workaround so Fenris is SoL. You MIGHT be able to fix it by removing him from the party, but I haven't tested it yet.
