Shep is on trial at the start of ME3 because of her/his's actions in the Arrival DLC, right? But what happens if you did not get the DLC? I have Arrival but I'm wondering why would BioWare make that a DLC when it has alot to do with the next game. Do you think they are just going to fill in the blanks if you never played it?

It seems that Arrival should have just be a part of the base game of ME2.

Arrival is canon. If you didn't play it then ME3 will, presumably, bring you up to speed on what happened in it.

The game is most likely going to assume that you did play it. I guess if you played the DLC it's just a step up for you since you'll know what's actually going down. Those are my 2 cents.

In one post long time ago, Christina Norman said that every piece of DLC is canon, and it happens whether you played it or not (LotSB, Overlord, Arrival etc...) however if I remember correctly, not so long ago another dev said that they "would go differently" for the ones that didn't play Arrival.

Basicaly arrival happened whether you purchased it or not. So basicaly your Shepard experienced it even if you did not. Same goes for LoTSB, but you have plenty of time between now and next March to purchase it.

As others have said, the events of Arrival (and Lair of the Shadow Broker) happen regardless of whether or not you own and have played them.

Well I can't download any DLC, so I don't see it as a big loss. As far as I know, Arrival has only one outcome, so I'm sure we'll be brought up to speed.  If not, there's always Mass Effect Wiki. ;)

Hmmm. I had a feeling it might just fill you in, but why would they make it a DLC? I think it should have been part of the base game. Because if we are talking canon then if you did not play Arrival then you should not be able to start ME3 because you would not have been able to delay the coming of the Reapers. Like I said I think Arrival should have been part of the base game.

That's just my thoughts on it.

If you played Arrival, you will get some small things that people who didn't play it won't get.

Plus you can always watch cutscenes on youtube.

If i remember korectly Bioware made a statement when ME2 was released, that "no DLC contains cannon storyes" in order to calm us down who couldnt buy the dlc ? or something in that line.
guess we got cheated.

Yep,either way Reapers are invading Earth in ME3,not ME2 so that "spoiler" has to be gone.!.

Makes sense since ME 2 treated BDTS like it happened whether or not you played it.

it will probably end up being like me2 if you haven't played.
someone at the trial will give you a rundown of the events and fill you in. hmmm
