ME1's complexity had depth? Lulz. Until I played ME1 I thought Dungeon Siege was the reigning king of simplifying RPGs.

no, MAss Effect 1 had depth in general, its little complexity was redundancy masquerading as larger complexity

It had depth but the inventory/mods system wasn't part of it. That was trash that people through was deep. The linear leveling of weapoins/mods and armor was terrible and, since they happily numbered it for you,l wasn't all that hard.

in other words....redundancy masquerading as complexity

simple weapons with upgrade progression ala DS2 is much more deep.....and it's what they are doing

Pfft at the Ammo line.

Shame they thought it would be more fun for soldiers dying on the frontlines against the Reapers to have ammo than the technologically superior near limitless cooldown rifles. But oh well...all in the name of fun! :P

Games should be fun and "cooldowns" suck for a front line soldier. This has been discussed a ton but limitless ammo is a dream of quartermasters but men who get shot at for a living don't want their guns to stop working because they shoot "too fast" and they have one style of fire discipline enforced on them.

that's what I do not get

they are improving everything but they are keeping the thermal clips when a simple active cooldown system ala GoW's troikas would have added the extra gameplay without breaking the lore and just simple logic

come on they are borrowing so much from that game they could have borrowed that too

Oh nooes! A trilogy whose thousands of discussion lines and choices that actually affect gameplay has plot holes and inconsistencies? Can't be!

Can't some people just enjoy the game for the games sake..

We're talking ME universe here. Not real life.
But since you mentioned it..you're right. Having one type of fire disciple enforced on you does suck.:P

Thank god for mods.  Regardless, the post was a tongue in cheek poke and the too and frowing between the two sides of the fence.

I plan on modding it like I did ME2 anyway. *shrug*

What I was am hoping for is one of the weapon mods to be a change between thermal clips AND the cooldown. That way if someone wants to play with the cooldown they can, if they don't, they have the ammo available. Seems like an easy win win for everyone.

C'mon now, we all REALLY new it was ammo the whole time, the thermal clip thing was just some feeble attempt at consistency, if you are gonna retcon it, retcon it ALL THE WAY.

Indeed, the level of customization (both in weapons and in power upgrades) really impressed me, I'm just too excited... :D
This will be a long 9 months... :(

Entirely off topic, but does anyone else think Mark Meer has gotten better at voice acting?

Sorry for furthering the OT, bu Mark Meer actually is pretty much a veteran in Bioware (and a gamer himself if I'm not mistaken) who goes all the way back to Baldur's Gate, only he usually makes smaller roles, when they first asked him about this huge role in ME he said he was pretty excited...

He is good: you may want to know he voiced several minor characters, like the "rage demons" (and I think also Swiftrunner) in DAO and basically all the Disciples in DAO:A, that male elf prostitute (whose name I can't recall now) from DA2, and the great Niftu "BIOTIC GOD" Cal, among others...

The reson Shepard is more "neutral" is because he can't unbalance too much a character who is supposed to be controlled and defined by the player: if I roleplay a tough as nails Shep who never looses his cool, having him going bat**** insane is goingto break my immersion... :/

Frankly, I like how he acts...

Customisation looks great, I don't know if the best implementation is random work benches between fire fights but if it work, it works.

Well, it's just a bench. I think it's meant to just look like a random flat surface, could be wrong though.

Waitwaitwaitwaitwait... wait...

- So the geth are working with the Reapers again? Didn't I change that in Legion's loyalty mission?

- Jumping over pits is not exploration, Bioware.

- Why doesn't the Crab Reaper just shoot them instead of running after them like a bad guy from Scooby Doo?

- Giving the enemy riot shields and rocket boots is not an AI improvement.

Also, I was hoping for more customisation than just a slight increase in damage. We haven't seen much of this yet, so hopefully it will be deeper than this.

good one PD

that said. My stepson is a Marine. Presented with the question "infinite ammo (but don't use it as a hose) or VERY limited ammo" he said it would be the first any day of the week.

Also, Bioware (at least the DA team) hates toggles, so don't get yout hopes up about a non heatsinks ammo mod available in game
