I dunno if there's a topic about the subject, but here it goes anyway...

I've been probably playing Dead Space way too often, but am I the only one who founds weird that in the moment Shepard sees the little kid, he's by himself on the room? Then Anderson shows up and the kid is nowhere to be seen. So my question is this...

It doesn't sound plausable or even likely in my book, but is it possible that at a certain point Shepard starts going through a mild kind of indoctrination, most likely caused by his proximity to Reaper related machinery and / or husks?

Again, it's probably sleep or something, but I found the scene a bit... Out of place so to speak. Please share your thoughts, if any and TKS for reading. ;)

I think it's just a little kid who crawled away when Shepard turned his head. Nothing more.

Reminded me of Isaac Clarke too. Anderson walked in and didn't acknowledge who Shep might have been talking to.

The thing that struck me the most about that kid was the grating voice acting...

"Everyone's dying"
When he said that I just cringed. Hopefully it's a placeholder.

I don't know, I'm kind of hoping we get a chance to run into him again at some point in the game.

For the first time I can think of, Meer did a fantastic job with emotion in the scene. And I mean a FANTASTIC job with emotion. And I'm pretty sure that somebody said you could go after the kid, and it would epic if it turned out Shep was going nuts.

The more I see that scene, the more it reminds of the default background for male and female Shepard. Born in the slums of Earth, with no family and forced to live on his own.

Again, it may be Shepard projecting an image of his younger former self, as a result of some mild kind of indoctrination, in its earlier stages... After all, we know so little about it.

The way Casey was talking about that kid in one of the interviews I saw made it seem like this kid is going to show up more than once.

I think we all know who this kid is:

Conrad Verner Jr.

This is pretty cool, I was always hoping something messed would be happening to Shepard. Either through his/her body rejecting the Cerberus surgery or him/her going nuts. I hate how Shepard is always this superman type marine with no weaknesses or something hindering him/her.

Yay for messed up anti-heroes.

Unlikely. If he was, he would have asked for an autograph, a picture and then support to become a full-fledged Spectre.

Maybe just Shepard going crazy. Maybe it's a ghost. Lol little ghost kid stalking Shepard sounds cheesy. It could also be a survivor, but I kinda doubt that. Just Shepard's imagination.

I thought that this kid was a nice touch. Also, if your Shep is Earthborn, this whole scene is bound to affect him more, at least in my imagination.

I might be reading too much into this, but i'm thinking the kid wasn't real. A real kid would have gone with an Alliance soldier in that situation I think. He also seemed more inquisitive than scared with the whole "you can't help me" and "but everyone is dieing" comments, disappearing without a sound. Almost testing Shepard in a way.

It could be a side effect of prothean visions, reaper tech, indoctrization or Shep's good old subconscious talking to him/her. Or it is just a boy who puts things in perspective for Shepard and forshadows the rest of the story: You can't save them all. :P

Or Colonist.  Since the colonist had his/her whole family (and most of the colony) killed by aliens when he/she was a kid.  But then Spacers wouldn't get anything.  :pinched:

The kid's not an illusion apparently:
http://www.nowgamer....n-earth-details

You see him try to escape and die.
He's actually representing humanity's reaction to the Reapers. Someone has said this before. Humanity is thinking "Everyone's dying" and is confused about the whole invasion, and the line "You can't save me" and his disappearance implies that we may not be able to save Earth or most of Humanity; It may well be a Pyrrhic victory. Life continues, but Humanity and many other races may well be lost forever.

This person claims to have seen more of that part of the demo at E3, http://social.biowar...3/index/7573916

The kid apparently shows up again as Shepard is escaping in the Normandy. He was being evacuated into an Alliance ship when a reaper blows it up. Though a grain of salt might help since I have not seen or heard of any of that extended footage any where else but that thread...

Edit:  I typed too soon.  I just read the link above mine...

That's... that's awful. :crying:

Just as long as we don't start hearing "I see dead people..." Image IPB
All's well. Image IPB

ETA: In regards to the post above me, that would suck if it's true, and I share the same sentiments exactly.

I am wondering that too. May be it is not indoctrination, other kind of side effect that caused by reaper artifact.
