There will be no bashing of any sorts in this thread. This
thread is an open discussion to the possible introduction of multiplayer in the
Mass Effect franchise. (Whether it’s in ME3 or future projects.)

MP = Multiplayer

--------------------------

I made a thread over a month ago, showing a conversation on FB after one of my
bosses that went to a game conference in Australia. (Can be seen here, a lot of
people thought I was trolling when infact I wasn’t.)  He mentioned that ME3 will have multiplayer,
but they weren’t going into much detail except that it will be in groups of
four. However, it is the internet, so you can believe what you wish, I just
decided to share that with you all. Now, a few days ago, this article comes
out. I linked the 2 together, and both said
they were going to be in groups of four. Coincidence?  http://www.pcgamer.c...er-and-mmo/This[/url] came out yesterday as well:
“We have nothing else to announce at E3” makes it sound like, to me “I can
neither confirm or deny MP”. (Sort of like what happened with the Kinect announcement.)
Or they will include MP in future ME projects. The previous article states that
it will be announced later in the year. There are a lot of other things I could mention that could potentially lead to having MP, but we cannot be for sure unless someone
announces from BioWare themselves, however, so perhaps it’s all speculation. So for now, MP in ME3 is only a rumour.

Both of these threads
mentioned above were locked quite unfairly. How do you know 100% there will be no MP when no one from BioWare has said anything about it since the delay? I realize multiplayer in Mass Effect can be quite a
touchy subject, but we should still be able to talk openly about it. Other fans
talk about what they would like to see in ME, and even if it doesn’t happen,
the thread continues. Why can’t multiplayer? Until is it confirmed 100% by a
BioWare dev that multiplayer is still not happening (since they announced the
delay), then we should be able to have an open discussion about the topic. Please
let us continue have our discussion, unless of course the thread gets derailed
into a fallen pit, then go right ahead and lock it again. This thread isn’t
about the implementation of MP, but rather, the impact and opinions of the
community on the issue.

Yes, it was confirmed twice before the delay that Mass
Effect 3 will not have multiplayer, but this was before the delay. Things
change, just like what they said about introducing new LIs.

 Here's an example - Assassin’s Creed:
Brotherhood is an excellent comparison and one of the few that comes to mind. AC series is a single-player
experience, and the 3rd game proved to be even better than the first
two. The 3rd game in the series introduced MP. The
single-game play
was fantastic, and adding the MP was a nice little bonus. It didn't
destroy the game now, did it? The transition is not always a bad thing. Have to keep
in mind that BioWare has a good amount of time to make it the great and up to everyone's expectations.

--------------------------

Now let’s talk about the PROS and CONS of having multiplayer
(This includes wants and fears of the community, and not nesseraly the truth.)

PROS:

-         - Longevity; it’s the last game in its trilogy. We
want it to last a very long time. After you’ve played the main single-story
play a few time, or a few dozen times, MP can help things keep fresh.

-         -
Finally get to “show off” your Shepard to the
world and your friends.

CONS:

- Single player experience may have less value.

-         - Single player / MP experiences may have more bugs. (As they have to work with 2 things instead of just 1.)

Help include more stuff to this list!

--------------------------

What are your thoughts about the subject? Are you against
the idea? What other pros and cons can we add to the list? Please keep the
discussion civil. Most of us are mature adults, so please act like it.

No. I like it. It has the air of mystery about it.

It's a good point. ACB didn't suffer when MP was introduced.

The Reapers got to the post before it was published, obviously.

No, I don't think you get it. ME3 and the trilogy are single player games. It's been confirmed from multiple sources, both GameInformer and Priestly on multiple occaisions to the point where they're not bothering to quell such rumors because of their obstinance.

ME3 is NOT multiplayer.

This bit:

"(Whether it’s in ME3 or future projects.)"

Gets this thread locked. If you want to discuss Multiplayer in the ME Universe ONLY, then you may do so.
