After replaying through ME to set up a "perfect" import I realized the lack of, perhaps that's too strong, limited, interesting non combat missions or rather assignments, most of which are just dialouge choices that can prevent further combat or just dialouge situations in the first place. I'm wondering given the circumstances of ME3, can a decently lenghty and engaging puzzle quest exist in that environment.

I'm thinking along the lines of:

The first half of Kasumi's Loyalty Mission (ME2 DLC)
(optional)The first half of Arrival (ME2 DLC)
Citadel: Signal Tracking (ME)
Citadel: Rita's Sister (ME)
etc.

Something like those quests but on a grander scale. I know the ME series is going more shooter oriented but not everything needs to be solved by "putting high velocity rounds into the heads of bad guys."

So in sumation: Can a non-combat/limited combat Mission/Assignment fit into the tense ME3 atmosphere; and if so whatr could it be.

You do realise the 20 minute unskippable intro of ME2 falls into this category as well?
However, I agree, as long as its not another unskippable 20 minute intro we have to sit through....again.

Hopefully we will be able to skipp the intro ME:3 will probably also have something like the comic to choose what happend in the previous games, In ME2 that comic took 15 minutes so let's say that for ME3 it will be between 20-25 minutes add a unskipable 20 minute intro with that and a first time player will have lost 45 minutes before the game actually starts. That's a long time
