I would like to thank Bioware, for a little but very important thing.

Blue is Paragon, in ME1 you were a (mostly) law abiding military soldier
Red(Orange) is Renegade, in ME2 you acted outside the law and worked for a shady organization.
In ME3 you're supposedly back with the Alliance, so the return to blue makes perfect sense.

Strange enough, orange is my favorite color yet I'm liking the blue better.
This. Plus Blue is a more calming color and fits the ME universe better in my opinion. Less flashy and all in-you-face sci-fish and feels a bit more like its pulling you into the world and not being a distracting HUD.

Wouldn't that just set people on edge? It's the universally recognised colour for danger.Bogsnot1 wrote...

Personally, I think because the change to blue is symbolic of Shepard being out of Cerberus and being a Spectre again. And the Council actually doing stuff for him/her.SupidSeep wrote...
Why can't Bioware simply allow players to customise the HUD colours and end this discussion? Like in the first Deus Ex, they have a couple of dozen colour schemes for the game's menu display and in-game HUD display. When I start/restart a new game, I would spend five minutes going through all the colours to find one I'm happy with.
Plus arbitrary customisation like that might (not saying it will) ruin the game's aesthetics. Like with the hats in Team Fortress 2.

This, but if its out of our hands I'm definitely glad it was blue. I just wasn't feeling the orange whenever I played ME2.
