I would like to thank Bioware, for a little but very important thing.

Oh, yeah, blue is nice, but maybe they should have experimented with black as well.
Phaedon you read my mind... Black and Blue are my two favourite colours (don't ask me which one I like best, I don't know... XD), I would have loved a bit of black in there...
Still, I like the interface a lot anyway...

Confirmed: It will depend on your morality, a renegade will have a red/orange HUD while paragons will have a blue bar.
confirmed where? i like the idea of red/orange for renegades. tbh i want more transparency in there too, though - the "solid" blocks look a step back from before.

it would be cool if it started out white or grey, then chaged to either blue or red depending on your paragon/renegade path
I like this idea more and more as I think about it.

Why can't Bioware simply allow players to customise the HUD colours and end this discussion? Like in the first Deus Ex, they have a couple of dozen colour schemes for the game's menu display and in-game HUD display. When I start/restart a new game, I would spend five minutes going through all the colours to find one I'm happy with.
For a few reasons:
1. Gameplay. You'd be surprised how much the color of a player's HUD has on the impact of gameplay. If the colors are too trasnparent or contrast either poorly or too strong, it can make it hard on your eyes to understand the information. With the graphical power of modern games, most HUDs have to lock into a particular color so there aren't any issues.
2. Symbolism. As stated previously, ME2's hud was colored the way it was to show more of an association wtih Cereberus, on top of instilling a bit more of a darker feel. The dark red/burnt orange colors gives off a darker feel than the nice, clean, blue colors of the first game. In ME3, you are once again aligned with the Alliance, as well as you being the last hope for all of the galaxy.
3. Design pride. I am studying to be a graphic designer, so I make plenty of designs where I have spent a decent amount of time working on the details. And there is really nothing more insulting to a designer than having someone else change your work because they felt the way they did it was better. I would imagine a decent amount of time was spent working on the color scheme. It's not simply selecting "blue" and moving one. What shade of blue? Is it too dark? Does it obstruct the environment? Can it be easily readable in any situation? Against any background? Does it match with the themes and plot of the game? And for all that work to just be changed because someone's favorite color is yellow? Nah.

And to all those who posted long ago at Mass Effect 3 Main Colour (no typo that is the way its spelled) that ME3's menu were going to contain Red, White, Blue, Grey & Yellow you guys were correct. For those are the menu colors of ME3... At least according to footage from E3 via Livestream..........
