Does anyone think that we'll be using them in the final battle?

I assumed they all died at the base

They have no free will. They're like an AI with a single CPU, which happens to be blown to bits.

So I don't think we'll be seeing them again.

Personally I think if any of the Collectors survived, they'd all be depressed. Did you see the way the Collector General tried to reach out to Harbinger then became despondent when it was clear he was going to be abandoned? It didn't make me sad when I played ME2 but seeing the ending where everyone dies made me feel a bit differently...

What in the world are you all talking about? The collector base a CPU? Collectors free? Collectors dead?

All are highly unlikely.

The collectors are definately not "free." concepts such as free will would have been destroyed within one generation, not to mention the genetic tampering and machine replacements in their body.

I have no idea why someone would think the base acts like a control unit. So fat all we have been told is that harbinger was directly controlling the general who directed the collectors.

As for the collectors being all dead... We have no evidence to this, or that they only had one ship. EDI herself says there are multiple collector ship signatures.

The collectors are free? What? How? What did I miss?

Using them in the final battle? Probably not. From what we've seen, there is no indication that any are even left.

I'll admit, it was a pretty bad metaphor. I was actually referring to the Collector General, which seemed to act like a relay for Harbinger. Seeing as they lack free will, initiative, etc... , they appeared to be controlled by the General in a more direct fashion. (E.G.: the way you control units in RTS games.)

My point is: I don't think we'll be seeing them again, and definitely not on our side.

Well we are getting a prothean squaddie. My guess is that we'll be using the collector remnants against the reapers.
