The live chat pretty much confirmed that we would be able to continue playing after the final battle though details of how this will be implemented were not uncovered due to their spoilerific nature.
So my questions are....
Would you like to see DLC set after the final battle?
What kind of DLC/missions would you like to see?

I'd want a cinematic of Joker and the Normandy battling Reapers after Shepard died in the Suicide Mission. Insert Space Dragons from Klencory, too.

I'm not really sure, to be honest. Assuming that...
1) Earth is indeed liberated before complete destruction
2) The major races survived, even if severely damaged
then I'm not too sure what kind of post-war DLC would be appropriate, to be honest. This would seem to be starting a new story, which seems like it ought to be left to a subsequent trilogy.

This should be in the ME3 forum, but i'll give my thoughts anyways.
I heard rumor that the new game + feature will send you back to a point in time before the end of ME3. That tells me it's likely Shepard is dead, and DLC will have to take place before the end of the game.

I tend to hope not because that would limit dramatic content on the different endings Bioware could write. They need to get a bit creative with the DLC for ME3. For the first few pieces they can just add extra missions in to play during the game. After a certain point though they are going to have to seriously consider switching things up because most players will have finished with the game.
One idea could be to simply play isolated bits and pieces as different characters to tell the story of how parts of the game happened which Shepard wasn't on hand to witness. For example, and this is all just speculation, in a piece of DLC you could play as Liara and it could tell the story of how she lost her position as the shadow broker and how she came to rejoin shep. When playing the main game you could trigger it by conversation option - "How did you get here [play Liara DLC] or alternatively play it completely independantly from the game.

New Game Plus does that in ME2 now. It sends you back to the beginning. Same for ME1.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I'd like to see an alternate reality DLC. It would provide a way for Shepard to interact with other Shepards from different playthroughs, either by some kind of save transfer or multiplayer. It is sort of a sci-fi cliche, and might not be entirely believable, but I just think it would be very interesting to have Shepard interacting with himself or herself from another playthrough, and it would definitely be separate from the existing conflicts.

I could see space for some post-end game DLC that deals with tying up loose ends that just weren't important enough to deal with while the Reapers were invading. Shep might have to track down some indoctrinated hold-outs (Cerberus or otherwise) that survived the finale.
Whether or not Shep can die as a possible ending doesn't preclude having after end-game play or DLC--as long as SOME endings leave Shep alive.
Or they could go with the play other characters route--even do something like DA:O Darkspawn Chronicles and let us play as a husk or indoctrinated soldier who helps to take out Shep's squad and win the war.

As long as there is some sort of story, would hate to just see a pure shooter type thing, ME is all about telling a story imho
