In the first game we are presented with this race of scentient starship called reapers and we see just how insanely powefull even one of them can be.

We know that they have been doing this cicle of extermination for millions of years so they have experience , granted this is the first time as far as we know that they are forced to improvise but still.

In evry attack they come into out galaxy throu the citadel mass relay wipeing out the leadership but more importantly seazing control of the network hub and shuting down the realys then they can pick us off as they see fit.

This time they had to enter the galaxy by alternative means but still i dont understand why wasnt the citadel the first stop?

Some may say they had a grdue against humans bacause of Shepard , but these are cold calculateing mashines they wont loose there heads sort of speak and rush at u with rage.

Shepard has to flea earth to gather an army , i am afraid that the game designers will make or made allready the mistake most scifi shows make.

Build up the enemy at the begining to be this super powerfull unstopable force then they dumb them down and scale there power down throu out the show to make them beatable.

Even if they dont take out the citadel and go to earth i dont see how could we stop them even with a full galactic army based on how powerfull they are in the first game and just how many they are based on the seccond games ending.
And if we are at the subject o earth , dont understand why isnt the planet bombed from orbit the moment they arrive?

i tend to disagree a bit, soverign from ME 1 was taken out with some concentrated fire from basically, just the alliance fleet....it also became very vunerable when his vessel was destroyed (saren)...i don't think it's a stretch to think that if shep arrives back on earth with say, the migrant fleet, the krogans (with the genophage reversed by mordin), rachni, turians, batarians, asari, the scattered alliance ships, etc....that you could wage war on them

the citadel was the first stop, but that's basically what the keepers are designed to do, keep them out

they want to wipe out all life, as you said, they are cold and calculating, they are going to systematically make sure the humans are gone.....including a rallying figure like shepherd...

callitri, I look at it like this. This is a large scale galactic war. Earth just so happens to be on the front of that war. By the time the reapers reach earth, they have already extensively invaded and dominated batarian space. I suspect that as we reach 3-6-12, cereberus news will comment on a growing communication blackout for unknown reasons in the batarian hegemony. As with the reaper lines, from a tactical standpoint it makes sense to slowly advance towards an objective such as the Citadel so as not to spread ones forces to thin. I think throughout the game, based on your actions or missions that you do, we will see some type of battle lines moving. We may even have to fight another battle of the citadel as the front line reaches the Citadel. I think we will also see the reapers sending out advanced scouts and units to take certain tactical advantages.
And yes in ME1, the Reapers say they they are unbeatable, and from a technological standpoint they certainly have a vast advantage, but if they were truly unstoppable, Sovereign would have won in ME1. The Reapers can be destroyed with enough firepower. I think there claims of invincibility are more a form of psychological warefare, to destabilize and unnerve anyone who attempts to resist. That's just my take on it.
Also, to those commenting about the OP's grammar. Give the OP a break, as stated, english is not Callitri's native language. I'd like to see everyone complaining about it write a forum post in a foreign language with proper grammer, punctuation and spelling since it's okay to attack others for their language barriers.

I tried to edit in an "Assuming this is the case - an admirable attempt", but I think the data vampires ate my edit.

And this is correct. If you read the books, especially retribution, you'll see that it takes a tremendous amount of energy to control a certain vessel. Once this control is just released the reaper itself is said to becoome extremely vulnerable because all of it's resources have been exhausted.

There's always a way.

Excellent points. ME1 really built up the danger of just one Reaper, so I'm sure they'll get progressively weaker during the course of the game as they did in the film Battle Los Angeles (awful film) until they can be taken out with a trip rope and a spud gun.
