First of all whos the better tank Hawke or Aveline I really want to make a tank class but I think it might get a bit to boring lol like I will most likely be playing my companions more then my actuall hawke itself lol so I thought it would be something really different and fun but I do not know I can't seem to find a good build for Aveline like a strong one also how to set her tactics? please help it will be much appreciated thank you

hmm I would say that while both can tank really well a dedicated tank is unnecessary.
However, if you were to make a tank a S&S hawke would probably have more potential in that you can get pretty crazy damage resistance via armour and you'll have more stat points to play around with.
If you have the item dlc than Aveline might be easier to use as a tank as her ring grants nice immunities which saves a few ability points.

Either way, tactics-wise you might have some luck checking out suicidal's guides but the changes in the latest patch may change some things.

I think that shield defence is now a lot more viable (as it draws more threat) but it still results in crappy damage so why bother? haha. it's up to you though.
I personally have never used a dedicated tank (run four glass-cannons) so can't help you too much there. I can probably give you a quick run down on the dps elemental Aveline i used but generally speaking your builds/CCCs/use for the tank will largely depend on hawke's class.
