IMO, ME1s system with more points was superior to ME2.
I also missed the Persuation/Intimidate skills.
The ME1 system strongly encouraged you to use a single weapon by simply having to spend points to control accuracy, not having the increasing costs built in and having unlimited ammo. This makes gameplay dull and monotonous. It also had grossly disparate hard points where going up to a certain level say (9 on singularity, 8 on Lift,5 on charm etc) was optimal based on information that simply wasn't available to the player. I think ME2 absolutely slaughters ME1 for gameplay and the skill system is a big part of that.
I meant that I'd rather have 10 points/skill, hard points (skill development) at 1/3/6/10 (same as ME2), but the ability to spend points between those (like ME1). the points between development would be minor but slowly advance your skill (example: +0.5 damage/-0.5 sec cooldown reduction).
This would basically be the same system as in ME2, but instead of spending 4 points to get Heavy Charge, you spend 3 points to improve charge and the 4th point gives you Heavy Charge.
I don't want the weapon skills back (or the ammo skills for that matter).
I just want to be able to spend all my points and not end up with 1-2 point that I'm unable to use.
Those points annoys the heck out of me!
