Sorry guys, I made a mistake and erased my text.
Anyway, my ME2 has all characters with black eyes, and all armors are black as well. The game is awesome, and that little bug spoils the experience a bit. Can anyone help?
My os is windows vista
Thanks in advance!

Computer specs as outlined in the "Read First" thread would be helpful.

32 or 64 bit Vista?
What service pack have you got installed?
Whats the driver revision number for yuor video card?
Is it Steam, EADM or disk version of the game?
Have you patched it with the 1.02 patch?
128, 256, 512 or 1024mb model of the 8400 GS? (cant find any listing for a 8400gt)

Right. There never was any Geforce desktop card named "8400 GT". There have been problems with eyes and armors, but Google seems very reticent about bringing up anything useful. Be that as it may, the 8400 GS is so far below minimum, that when the solution to the symptom is found (most likely trying to use "too new" of a driver with "too old" of a Geforce), the game is still going to hitch, jiggle, and go herky-jerky from slow frame rates.
ME2
PC MINIMUM System Requirements
OS = Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor = 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
Memory = 1 GB RAM for Windows XP / 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Hard Drive = 15 GB
DVD ROM = 1x Speed
Sound Card = DirectX 9.0c compatible
Direct X = DirectX 9.0c August 2008 (included)
Input = Keyboard / Mouse
Video Card = 256 MB (with Pixel Shader 3.0 support). Supported GPU Chips: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater(**); ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater. Please note that NVIDIA GeForce G.205, G.210, 310, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, 9100, 9200, and 9300; ATI Radeon X1300, X1550, HD 2400, 3100, 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4250, HD 4350, and (probably) HD 5450 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required. Intel and S3 video devices are not officially supported in Mass Effect 2.
(**)Two of the Geforce 6800s are worse than the next-lower Geforce game card, the 6600 GT, and should be avoided (6800 SE, 6800 XT).

There was a mobile graphics card named the 8400m GT which, oddly enough, was more powerful than a desktop 8400 GS. http://www.gpureview...1=531&card2=532. So, JRSBB, do you have a laptop?

Yes SSV, I run the game on a laptop. My vista is 32bit, with service pack 1. I have the disk version, and I have more than minimum specs for the game.
Thanks again, guys!

Wrong. Refer to what I already told you. That is still well below a Geforce 6800 GS's performance level. It may eventually, with many swaps of drivers, reach an accomodation with the UT3 graphics, but it will never be fast enough for proper game playing operation at normal settings and normal resolutions.

Hmm... I see. But it's a bit weird, as the game as no other issues whatsoever, and it plays very smoothly on even high resolutions... Are you saying that there's no solution?

Remember, the anomalous black textures rise out of two things, the particular driver, and the overall weakness of the graphics hardware. It is possible to keep testing drivers until one of them turns out to eliminate the missing texture situation. The slow feedback is another matter.
ME2 uses a particular feedback mechanism for interacting with the game's environment that the 8400 cards, be they desktop or laptop, are going to be too slow to manage, when running at normal settings, particularly normal screen resolutions.
The card was specifically NAMED as inadequate in the official requirements (note that I've added a couple of newer low end cards that the original list couldn't have included at the time, and the 8400, being four years old wasn't among those):

The "workaround" is no more than 480K pixels, whether it's a 4:3 display's 800 by 600, or an equivalent wide screen resolution.

Ah, my mistake, I posted a link comparing the 8400m GT with an 8400m GS, not the desktop card. Here's the real comparison: http://www.gpureview...1=576&card2=532. It seems that the 8400m GT has far more memory bandwidth thanks to a higher memory clock and larger memory bus width, but the 8400 GS has more raw processing power.
JRSBB, try updating your graphics drivers by downloading and installing them here: http://www.nvidia.co...hql-driver.html. Old Nvidia cards can have compatibility issues with Mass Effect 2 but the proper drivers can help.

I'll be interested in seeing feedback in the forum after driver selection aspects are worked out. There have been some gamers without complaints about the desktop 8400 GS, but it's my bet that they are running far "cleaner" than the average person even thinks about running.

Hey guys! Just wanted to tell that I've finally downloaded new nvidia drivers for my laptop card, and the issue was resolved. I couldn't do it before because my internet connection was in a bad shape.
Anyway, it was nice to finally get a good look on ME2. The eyes are some life-like they're creepy!
