When the reapers attack earth the only ship that could escape was the Normandy could this be because the Normandy still has the IFF and can pass for a reaper ship?
If not, do you believe that the IFF will play a role in ME:3?
(The IFF was a device obtainend on a derelict reaper in ME:2 that indentified friends or foe so Sheppard could travel the omega relay)

Possible, but I doubt it.

Being able to pose as a (very small) reaper ship could give a huge advantage because in the dark ones somebody start to shoot all armies are of equal size

Most likely the only reason the Normandy can escape is becuase it is still a stealth frigate.

I agreed with SalvoDK ... Normandy has its stealth systems to keep itself hidden, I presume Reapers don't use much of "eyes" to spot targets, more use infrared or radar sensors so on

Being a stealth frigate did not help SR-1. I think that reaper IFF will help Shepard and the others escape from Earth and after that the Reapers will have realised that their IFF is compromised and will update it so Normandy won't be able to fly all crazy around them without them doing a thing about it.

The IFF didn't help the SR-2 against the occuli that were guarding the endpoint of Omega-4 relay.

The IFF only worked to pass through the Omega-4 relay to the Collector Base. Occuli noticed it wasn't a Reaper or a Collector vessel and then attacked.
When putting in the Reaper IFF the Collector ship jumped out of FTL to board the ship.
If a Reaper doesn't visually see the Normandy or doesn't scan it after noticing the friendly part of the IFF has gone off than they will think it's a Reaper. If they do notice it they won't. My guess is as long as you keep the stealth part on while in space and the IFF is still in the Normandy, they'll most likely see you as a friendly unless they're looking directly at you.
Score 1 for the Normandy. Score 0 for everyone else. Unless of course the Alliance noticed the IFF (which is also undeniable proof that there are Reapers) and isolates it from the Normandy for a bit to create more. Curious though why they left EDI in, considering the illegality of AI's, unless you have to pick up EDI before leaving Earth.

It would be a interesting way to safe earth Shoot a supervulcano that blankets the atmosphere with ash so vicibility is reduced to zero and use the reaper signals to track them and destroy them, you kill a couple of reapers and the leave to attack a other target. What is left of the people and city's is saved (for now) but the biosfere is severly damaged and will take centuries to recover.
They did say their are multiple ways to retake earth and this would be a interesting choise
