just wondering, ive played all classes so far, but this is the first time ive hardly had any deaths...i dont think my healer has used revive yet.
Just wondering if im cutting through stuff really fast (i do have some modded amor and weapons) or has the patch made things easer in general?
Assasinate and Twinfangs will take down anything short of a boss in about 10 seconds
Was the DW rogue OP before the patch?

I think it was just as powerful but it needed to be used right as knockdowns were a major issue.
I didn't play a DW much pre-patch though so I could be wrong but if anything the changes to the average health of critters would make fights slightly longer as DW rogues could close to one-shot bosses pre and post-patch.
However, speed aside I would say that the patch has made things easier in general- and fixing haste has upped the speed considerably anyhow.
But yeah, I'm doing a DW playthrough and it's ridiculously easy. I do die a little though due to my party setup (three mages) which makes me the brunt of all the arrows, but most fights are over really fast. I'm thinking that it could be partly due to dual haste as well...

Mr alk, Did you mean Isabela and three mages because a DW rogue and three mages doesn't make sense to me. I'm confused.

He might have meant Bethany, Anders and Merrill as his three mages? Not sure where he is in the game...

whoops, I meant DW hawke and three mages (merrill, bethany, anders). As my rogue runs straight into battle and deals stack-loads of damage it draws all the aggro from the archers which makes for a fun high-risk high-reward scenario.
Generally speaking you can easily get by with a few stuns (chain lightning/miasmic flask) but even still, fights with lots of archers isn't fun. My current play-style probably wouldn't be possible pre-patch as knock-backs would decimate my rogue in seconds haha
edit: yep, I'm still in the first act with my DW. Decided to test out the patch from the beginning and have to say it's made things a lot easier. A little too much imo, but oh well- at least it should hopefully allow me to pump out some crazy ARW speed run so i can feel good about myself
haha

if you use bethany to help heal, it's going to be significantly harder post act 1. then again, by then you'll hopefully have somebody else to tank with.

Decoy and the dog help a lot. I can 'tank' (using a loose definition of that term) hordes of enemies with the combination of the dog, stealth and decoy.
Basically I want to get obscured to get a nifty +50% crit damage. Using stealth/decoy to do so has the nice advantage of removing all my threat and redirecting it towards either my dog or decoy giving me the freedom to completely own them while they're distracted.
This means that from ~level 11 onwards (e.g. the whole deep-roads) I don't really have problems with groups of enemies and my glass party setup works quite well. I think this must be the first time playing without a warrior (besides a few muck around sessions with isabela) so getting used to taking all the hits with a rather fragile rogue is quite a different/enjoyable experience.
But yeah, once bethany is gone i'll probably replace her with Aveline for staggers (so I can work in a vendetta). I feel like making a duelist shadow just because I recall some threads saying that such a build was ridiculous/would never work. Should be fun.

No, DW Rogues were pretty much always overpowered. My very first playthrough was on hard, and there were no boss fights that lasted more than 30-40 seconds. And nightmare wasn't much more difficult. Assasinate, twin fangs, and vandetta in succession, is basically an I win combo.
