How is it going to work if everyone BUY shepard died in the final mission?
I am going to have to prep a minimum playthough and make sure everyone dies and save that gamefile.

Shepard dying on the collector base is non-canon.
Wish people would stop ask about this.

Although I guess you just wouldn't be able to import a dead shepard...
Anyway, I still think a minimalist run would be a cool carry-over. With all but 2 dead squad members.

What do you mean canon? If shepard dies anywhere in the game it is non-canon as you get a game over screen and need to try again. If you beat the game with a dead shepard you do not get a game over screen, and still beat the game. Doesn't that make it canon?

Non-canon as in non-canon. Sure the bad ending won't show a critical mission failure like the other. But that is not needed to have something be non-canon. Also remember that like the other non-canon endings the "Shepard dies" ending does not produce a viable save game to be imported to ME3.
Look at it this way.
Mass effect is a trilogy. Thoughout this entire trilogy our main character is Shepard. Therefor the ending where Shepard dies on the Collector base would go in direct conflict with ME3. Because the story would not be able to continue. Shepard will (or must) always survive the events of ME2 because thats the only way Shepard can be in ME3.
Getting killed on the suicide mission is just as much as a viable ending as having sex with Morinth or waiting for the timer to run out in Arrival is.

^Arrival timer ends on youtube.
Shepard dying anywhere in the game gives a mission failure start over, some are just more involved than others. Dying at the end of the SM, gives a long drawn out mission failure, nothing more or less.
And given what is being released about ME3, having few(2) surviving crew mates will probably make a very bad game in ME3.

You spend all of ME2 gathering a team of the very best the galaxy has to offer - people who will stand with you against the Reapers. People who can make a difference. Then you have all but two of them die just before the Invasion proper...
This doesn't sound bad to you?

If every single member of your team died Shepard had died as well. In order to survive the Suicide Mission at least two members of your team have to stay alive at the end, otherwise Bye Bye.
Those two vids are ridiculously depressing. After watching Tali and Thane get up after the end boss fight, it felt ridiculous seeing Samara and (especially!) Grunt die. That is terrible.
Good job, Bioware, that is what I call roleplaying. Not that I'll ever do it.

To me it like people either don't read the load screen hints or reading is not their strong suit and don't understand this .....You can import your Shepard to Mass Effect 3, if you survive. Or something along those lines.

Shepard: "If I'm going to pull this off, I'm going to need an army. Or a really good team."
Well, we've done the really good team, let's try the army.
