Any other opinions guys? Which suggestion do you prefer? Do you have one of your own to make?

This is not a game that takes place in a medieval Europe.
I'd much prefer standard N7 armor that you can customize (change parts) and it has noticeable impact on the gameplay.

I want 3 N7-like sets that can be customized fully.blitzkkrieg wrote...
So the general gist, if I am understanding this correctly, is that each squadmate would have ~3 outfits, each looking different (obviously) but also offering different bonuses? That would be nice. Maybe include multiple set color schemes for each outfit?
So you mean each squadmate has 3 different head pieces, shoulders, chestplates, arm pieces and leg pieces? If it was kept to 3, I think it would be managable, however past that, equiping characters might get a little time-consuming. Although, I suppose it wouldnt be too bad if we dont have as many squadmates as ME2.

Having N7 armor for the whole squad would be great, though. No, the squad isn't part of the alliance, but they did look like a bunch of individuals whenever you went out on a mission. Nothing wrong with that in ME2, since it was basically all about Shepard recruiting a bunch of individuals, but by ME3, they should be a unit. Units have uniforms, or at least similar colors.
In ME1, having similar armor sets made your squad feel like a squad. Seeing everyone role out in Colossus Armor was bad ass.
At the very least there should be some customization for squadmate casual wear, or at least different casual wear. Casual wear /= combat armor.

If they have to be acquired, they can be acquired in shops at worst, or during the story at best.

I'd like to be able to swap between light, medium, and heavy, with the "damage protection" element added back into the game. This would reduce damage dealt to the wearer by a certain percentage based on the type (light / medium / heavy) of armor. I'd like to see a return of heavy armor. Like I've said many times, Shepard wears medium armor in ME 2, not heavy. Look at Conrad Verner's armor for comparison, especially the biceps and shoulders.

Okay, since it looks like the popular vote is towards a single N7-like armour set, how many parts should it have?
Same as sheps?

What about XP-based acquisition?RinpocheSchnozberry wrote...

Also, how many armour parts does Shepard have in vanilla ME2?

It was unequal. There were lots of helmets, I remember, About 7. Other body parts had from 5 to 3 options.

I think four or five parts per armor slot would work well I would simply satisified with the ability to change things like materials, colors, etc on squadmate armor at this point.
Would be interesting if the player could add small details like the golden eagle Garrus had on his armor during his recruitment mission or a spectre or alliance symbol to their armor.

Bioware won't even give us XP for kills, why would they would they do it for acquisitions?

I like the idea of 1 N7 armour set for each squad member. After all, the team should wear some sort of uniform even if not all squad mates are Alliance.
With 4 parts:
1. Helmet
2. Chest&shoulders
3. Arms
4. Legs
Heavy set for soldier&vanguard; medium for other classes. The parts should be obtained by completing missions.
+ each squad mate should also have their unique armor (like Liara's LOTSB) + casual Normandy lounging clothes.

What's wrong with ME 1 style looting Kill some baddies = New items? You even looted weapons at set points in ME 2, this includes credits and technology?
i would prefer looting over the Xp idea or a combination of the two :/

How about crew requisition requests? Get an email: "Hey Shep, didn't get a chance to grab my gear before we left, I NEED NEW ARMOR!! Can you help me find X type or something similar? This Alliance crap chafes me in all the wrong places."
I don't like the "looting armor" idea because it just doesn't make much sense to pick up N7 armor pieces in random places.

Different parts of armor can be obtained during missions / available for sale at stores, and each piece gives noticable bonuses. There also can be unique upgrades of armor for each squad members, since there will be few permanent squad members and they want us to develop a bond or something with them, so why not make them go all pro as well?
Colors and such stuff get customized over a screen just like in ME2.
