The only thing I'm really arguing for overall is armour consistancy.  If Shep has to wear their Medium/Heavy N7 armour all of the time, then could our squaddies also please wear something of similar 'weight'?  Individually styled, but definitely making it more uniform.

Yes, yes! Also someone mentioned having someone like Jack out in the field where the air is hazardous, it makes NO sense. But I think this is being remedied, I sure hope so.

Lovely thread and /voted.

It be nice to have different sets and armors as well casual clothing for squadies. I will prefer more than less, the more the better. If there were like only 1-2 and not customizable that could get dull and boring. I hope us the fans, everyone will be happy, not just one group. I hate it if one tgroups gets everything and the others not. I am sure we will see some things, people that want less than 5+ or 3 are boring.

Yeah, good work; voted on what I can.
The results certainly look quite mixed.

Votin'

Trying to consider workload on BioWare team when I vote so I only voted 5+ for the number of patterns. A pattern shouldn't require a whole 3D textured wireframe to be designed like armor pieces/sets would. Otherwise I find all the other votes for 5+ to be overoptimistic and in an ideal world that's what the majority seem to want... but as this isn't an ideal world I'm expecting BioWare to ignore the 5+'s and go with whatever's got the second most votes.

There we go!
Better vote now than moan on forums once the game is out why we don't have some decent armor options.

BTW What happens if it's a tie, see pool 4a. :D

IMO the best and easiest solution to appease most everyone would be to do this:

Squad Armory

Standard Armor Set (No Customization)
This is the default armor the character wears. It does not have modular pieces and you can change nothing about the appearence. This is for those who don't want to monkey around with lots of options and just want to roll out with their squadmates.

Modular Armor Set (Customization)
This is an armor set that works like Shepard's armor. You can change a few parts (2-3), but you will have to unlock some additional pieces via missions. This suit may also have a few color schemes to choose between (2-5).

[Not Present in Armory]

Hazard Armor Set (No Customization)

This is the suit characters wear into hazardous environments such as space, etc. The suit will be fully sealed and come with a helmet. This suit is automatically equipped by squadmates on potentially hazardous missions. (Should more or less be a variant of the Standard Armor with a helmet.)

(Oh yes, I did still vote BTW.)
