Why not have Ashley just put her hair down during the love scene?

Think about it.  You keep Ashley's straightforward, no-nonsense attitude in combat intact and plausible, while still showing off her good looks when it counts.  Dramatically letting her hair down would be a nice touch for her romance scene.

That, or have her hair down just when you're talking with her off-duty on the Normandy.  Just please don't let her waltz into combat like that...:crying:

Models cost zots. More generally, why does how she keep her hair matter? It's nonsense a soldier wouldn't be wearing a helmet. She could have the most beautiful, long, flowing locks, and she'd still be the same no-nonsence person.

She did wear a helmet in ME1.  But I'm not going to discuss the change in Ash's looks in general, there's another thread for that.  I just wanted to push forward this idea.

I actually agree with OP. While I'm not a fan of Ash myself, I can see where people would be disappointed with her wearing her hair down during combat. It's inefficient and takes away from her character (and appeal in some people's cases) ever so slightly.

Or she could also have her hair down while on the Normandy. It doesn't bother me the way she is now, though.

Well, the player could remove it. My point is that whether or not Ashley had long-hair isn't something that says anything about her character. In fact, she always had long hair. She just chose to keep it in a bun. But she didn't need to when she was on the ship. That could as easily been a consequence of the fact ME1 had no good models for long hair.

In combat, she's so no-nonsence that she wears a helmet.

Why not? Because it's fine as is, that's why not. :P

Her look really is the main concern fans have about E3 demos + Nine month left for dev time.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware listened to the complaints and makes little changes like no hair in the face or thicker armor and normal breast size.

Sure, I'm fine with her having long hair, but having her hair down and in her face can get in the way of her properly reacting to enemies. She would have to keep brushing it out of her face just to look down the sights of her rifle. That clashes with her character.  She wouldn't choose to look like that in combat.

My girlfriend has long hair. It can be just as annoying during the love scene, so to speak.

My point is that really, Ashley would choose to wear a helmet in combat. Talking about her hairstyle breaking her character would miss (in that context) the design element that more fundamentally breaks her character.

Well Miranda didn't seem to have a problem with letting her hair out in battle, course she wasn't a soldier technically. Besides we just had to see that perfect hair all the time right?

I love Ashley's new look, but I agree it distracts from her hard-lined soldier persona we saw in ME1.

She is a SPECTRE! Ash ain't bound to the code of Alliance so she doesn't need to have her hair up..Ash can do whatever she wants as long as it doesn't get the council mad.
