First off I'd just like to say that I'm very excited about ME3 and all the demo's, video's and pictures at E3 were amazing, great job BW. I can hardly wait to see the final product. Anyway, my first impression of the omni-blade was "wow,... that's cool". I think it will be a fresh take on close quarters combat and should be a lot of fun.

However, the more I think about it, I begin to wonder how exactly would it work? I mean to the best of my knowledge the omni-tool itself is a holographic projection over the user's hand and forearm. It's used for analysis, communication, diagnosis, hacking and repairing various objects. There would obviously need to be some kind of hardwear to produce the holographic "image" in the first place, as well as some software to run the various programs and such.

I don't understand how this could be used as a sharp blunt-force style weapon? There is no "hard" physical parts to actually hit someone with? It's just a hologram?

Thoughts?

Remember the skill "Incinerate"?

The blade is as physical as that, I believe.

i would guess that it generates a magnetic field around the holo blade which if you do not know, a magnetic field has been used in the past to negate gravity
