I hope that the music used in the demos are placeholders.

Now, don't get me wrong, I loved ME1 and ME2's music, but the music changes with each game, giving the game its own feel.

For example, "Vigil" was the only pure recurring track in ME2. The main theme was also there, but with modifications to the ending mainly. The rest was original.

From the demos, I've heard 1 reused ME2 track, 2 ME1s, 2 from Arrival, and no Original pieces.

I also felt that the reused ME1s (specifically where Legion is piloting a Geth APC (?) and Shepard is firing at a Reaper) were out of place, and didn't really run well into each other (there was a noticeable cut-off point between the two).

I know its too early to judge, but you've got Clint Mansell - a musical legend, scoring this one. Can't you give us a taste of the new music, Bioware?

This is all my personal opinion, and some returning tracks (like From the Wreckage, Agent Combat or Suicide Mission) would be nice, but please make sure that there's a lot of new music too.

I was just about to make a thread about this. Yes, I agree, while the previous ME music is not doubt nice, it feels rather odd to hear almost nothing new in regards to music.

They are placeholders.

They did give us a small taste of his work. It's in the scene where Shepard is talking to the kid in the vent.

They are. Character skins, music, HUDs, voice acting, etc all tend to be the aesthetic stuff, to be completed last.

Geez, maybe Clint Mansell didn't finish his work yet?

Really? Cool. The only version of the Earth sequence I saw was the commentary one, and the only music I heard was "The Normandy Reborn" from ME2, when the SR2 rescues Shepard. I'll keep an ear out for it next time.

Likely. Music takes a while. Especially if you're, preferably, trying to match it up to what's happening during a cinematic.

I'm kinda hoping that they keep some of the score from Arrival in ME3. It seems to fit with the whole impending doom, and they-are-here-and-we-are-going-to-die feel

It's admittedly a very small sample, but for the scene I think it works very well. It suggests to me that Mass Effect 3--or, perhaps more accurately, Shepard--will definitely have a more emotional/introspective dimension than in previous games.

Yah. I'm scoring some stuff right now (not for game) and it takes a lot of time, and it's got to be of sufficient length for given scenes and stuff so that it doesn't obviously loop back. It's got to be seamless. I expect it to be quite dramatic. Rest assured it isn't finished yet. The composer will likely have to see at least the sketches and durations of scenes and stuff to make sure he helps the mood needed. I would love to actually see how they do all this. Hmmm...... time to go check the added content on a DVD collection of Babylon 5. I think they had a feature on this.
