YES! Spoilers, bring them on! Maybe not all is over yet. Maybe we'll yet learn something. Hope springs eternal!

And what a relief, that little kid issue is resolved! At LAST I know what's that all is about. Won't have to wait for eternity to know, whew.

Bwahahaha. "You can't help me." Right. Natural selection at work - if you're too stupid to accept help, you're going to be filtered on the quality of intelligence. That kid is too dumb to live. Should've accepted Shepard's help, would've been still alive. I know it feels like Shepard is a magnet for all danger, but next to him is the safest place in the galaxy - it's like the eye of a hurricane.

Oh, I hope Shepard saw what happened to that kid. Otherwise, what's the point? To engage the player instead of Shepard? But my Shepard cares more for the kid than I do. And are we sure that kid is the same one? Probably, since he's the only kid on Earth. Now that I know that he's real, I feel no sympathy for him whatsoever.

Delicious spoilers! Give more of them!

EDIT: Oh! Shepard watches this "coldly". :D Now I feel the sympathy for the kid again, and the proper desire for revenge. Shepard has such a good influence on me!
:D

I'm sorry but IGN's getting a little too dramatic. It's a video game. Virtual reality, not actual reality. Crying over pixels is pretty sad.

I can't agree with that... games are the next level of entertainement and as long as you're human you can cry/laugh/get pissed when playing a game without having to worry that "they're just pixels"
I guess you can't cry because for reading a book too.. afterall, it's just paper
I think the games that provoke you strong emotions (other than frustration) are great games... this can only confirm that Bioaware's games are the greatest (except DA2, which stirred only frustration inside me )

Well not to get off topic, but DA2 was the one that got me a little teary when those unfortunate events hit Hawke's family. Wasn't a fan of the new genre they took it in, but the story wasn't that bad, particularly those moments referred to above.

yes it's a spoiler. And yes, laecraft, you see that as Shepard as you're escaping earth.

And I don't know about the rest of you but I can't wait to kill those Reapers.

Actually more then that, I want to kill THAT Reaper, that specific one that blew up that shuttle. All the more reason because it was such an insignificant thing to that Reaper, and I crave the opportunity to teach in in very painful ways the true value of human life. I want to blast my way into that thing and rip everything apart, wire by wire, bolt by bolt, and erase every single sentient program on that thing!

Make It Happen BioWare!

*Deep Breath*

So yeah, it is a very emotional scene and very well done.

I cried at the end of Grandma's Boy.

That may have been due to contact high.

Slightly on topic, I was ridiculously excited when I saw a child. They have become as mythical and illusive as female krogan/slaraians/turians.

Illusive Kid. :D And now, thanks to that Reaper, this species is completely extinct.

I agree with AlexRmF completely. The people like Polite never cease to amaze me. Do you look into a book and see ink on paper? Do you look at the screen and see flashes of color? Do you look at your monitor and see a bunch of pixels? I'll tell you what's sad - completely lacking the imagination is sad.

A good story can definitely make me cry. It can leave a lasting impression on me. I cried over movies and books countless times. I was unconsolable at the end of the fifth Harry Potter book, when Sirius died, and I was an adult by the time I read that. It doesn't matter what shape of form the story takes, a good one will always have the power over me - much more than reality can, because it's a more consenced, intense, and meaningful emotional experience than reality. That's the whole point of a story - that's why they're made, to make us feel and understand at the same time. It's like countless lives, rather than the only one life we can experience and make sense of. I can't see why a game can't have a powerful story that does that.

(On an unrelated note, I actually cried at the end of DA2. Those were tears of frustration and rage. Not the strongest emotional experience in my life, not even a lasting one, but it was real, I assure you. And it had nothing to do with the actual story, but rather with the gaming experience.)

That little-boy death could only be worse if Harbinger spoke up afterwards: "I know you feel this."

....seriously, Reapers, I'm comin' for ya.

I read an article a while ago. It said "If you have a paragon shep, being the good guy wont always work for you"

This is what we see here. We do a paragon action to attempt to save the child, but the child flees and is killed.

Perhaps... the renegade option will scare him a bit and he'll come with you. Then he'll have his own little room and at the end of the game the squadmate your romanced with the most, can adopt him as your son :)

Shep Jr. :D

It's no diffrent then crying while reading a book or watching a movie. The death of a kid invokes emotion in alot of ways, so yes people will be sad.

More i think about it.More i realize you guy  haven't choosen the best place to talk about your philosophical view of reality .But it's pretty normal to be or not to be touched by this.Depending of the why and the how.

If you refuse to be touched by it because it's pixel and a fictionnal story .Be my guess. But don't judge other that  put more though process into  it.

I have to agree with IGN... I was at the last demo of the day on Wednesday evening (a packed room)... I saw the scene IGN described and I, too, got a bit choked up seeing the scene with the little boy. The thing that really drew me to BioWare's games, starting way back with Neverwinter Nights, is that they are the only games that have ever caused me to have a genuine emotional response (aside from anger/frustration).

Errrrrrrr......

Looking forward to:

Mass Effect 3
Batman: Arkham City
CoD: MW 3
Battlefield
Halo: Anniversary
Halo 4
TES 5: Skyrim
Gears of War 3
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Star Wars: Kinect
Gonna Get Kinect soon

Really FAIL to see how this E3 sucked for any kind of game enthusiast, especially FPS and RPG fans.

On another note: PWNed to Assasin (who in fact spelled his own username wrong, ASSASSIN) Cause assassins have 2 bootys

Yeah, I don't even really care about half the games on that list and I still think this was the best E3s in a while
