So then, no one has mentioned this fight but I found the Brood Mother to be a real pain. She wiped the floor with me so many times it made me want to rage quit. Also that one revenant in the forrest temple that lightning bolts you if you get to close annoyed me. I just had to have my mage pew pew pew him to death while everyone else sat around and watched.

You know they mostly used fire, right? Which one of your forms is immune to?

Well....There is that shade in the brecillian forest which automatically kills 3 of your party members, giving them injuries and everything. That's bloody annoying(of course i might just be doing something wrong).

It's a trap!

I have to admit, I died there.  They opened with Fireball, got the knock down and then all hit me with Lightning.  It really was a case of "Boom" knocked over, zap, zap, zap, dead.

Being knocked down when you're on your own is a pain.  It really comes down to luck.  Similar to the Ogre in the Fade.  The git decided to pick me up.  Barely got out of there alive.

One thing you can do vs those mages is to to Fireball, run away, Fireball again... or switch to Spirit Form after the initial Fireball.  It is pretty resistant to Magic, and Crushing Prison is a fun spell.

I am not sure if this is related to your original class - I went in there with a 2H warrior on Nightmare, and the Spirit Form was meleeing for 50+ damage per hit as fast as if it was DWing.

I found so far the toughest was Branka, I finally had to put it in easy mode to get by that one. Golems kept stunning my group. The best i did on normal was to get her down to 1/2 once I cleared the Golems.

Not luck, perseverance and tactics. I opened the door as the burning man, but from an angle they couldn't see me. Then back a bit, through an Earthquake, a Blizzard and a Death Cloud. I still needed to reload a couple of times, but it softened them up quite a bit. Image IPB

I guess I had a much different experience. Playing an AW and getting to the Circle last I got to that one room with the desire demon+templar. Admittedly I probably could beat it now knowing how some of the spells work but just about every time I started the battle it was Smite from the Templar which stunned me and knocked back everyone else, cone of cold, and if I'm still alive skellies would finish me off. Could not beat that encounter without dying.

Those damn sylvans in the Brecillian forest. There was one area where you aggro 4 of them at once. 4 simultaneous root crushy DoT spells stacked and wiped my whole party at the very start. I hate those moments in the game where go up against multiples of something. THREE fireballs, man. What that hell can I do to not wipe against three ****ing fireballs? And a chain lightning.

And then theres the dozens of archers. Like one volley from them is more damage than your tank's max HP. I really hate these won't-even-let-you-try moments.

Revenants seemed kind of easy once I added cone of cold to my spells. Surprisingly, one of the tougher encounters for me turned out to be a random roadside encounter while on the way to the Brecian outskirts. In that scenario, 6 sylvan trees (and 2 or 3 are elite) all cast crushing prison on your party the moment you enter. It is only by luck whether they accidentally pile on one character or another. Also, there is a chance you could resist also. But just think...if all 4 of your characters are simultaneously trapped by crushing prison (or the tree spell equivalent) before you can even get off a spell, then your party is dead the moment it lands there. I had to reload a few times just to randomly have two members reisist or otherwise survive. Usually mages with low constitution die outright, and melee types will be left with about 20% hp. So, the odds aren't very good after that. I eventually kept reloading until I got a different scenario, one with about 10 werewolves, and that was fairly easy compared to the sylvan tree one, so I ended up going with that instead.

The Revenants were pretty easy imo... just used my PC who is a tank, Leliana who used a bow, Wynne who healed, and Oghren was extra melee dps.

I took the revenants at level 8/9 on nightmare. I used some pretty cheap tactics though. To start with I cast Force Field on the Revenant and then shattered (Petrify+Stonefist) one of his minions, while Morrigan cast Cone of Cold on another and I had Alistair and Leilana beat that frozen one to death. By then the Revenant was unfreezing, I had Alistair attack it to draw aggro and then run to the center of the of that map getting the Revenant to chase it. The paths in the forest are narrow so if it pulls you, you generally hit a wall. I got Alistair to lead it to the center of that area and then run in circles around that central obstacle on the map, keeping the revenant on the other side. While that was going on my party cleared out the other minions of the Revenant. Then they healed up/chugged lyrium potions spread out and I had Alistair lead the Revenant back When the Revenant came back I had Alistair attack and then cast forcefield on Alistair. I then switched to staff weapons (that do arcane damage) and bows and hammered the Revenant from range, they didn't draw aggro and it kept attacking Alistair. It took 3 forcefields, but the Revenant went down.  Similar tactics for the other Revenants in the forest, get it to chase Alistair while the rest clear the minions and then bring it back, and force field the tank while you beat it at range.

It's cheap but force field on a tank and ranged attacks is generally a good way to kill any single enemy. The group fights are much harder, that might change once I get some decent AoE spells, I've been focusing on CC spells so far.

I found all single enemies, even Flemeth, quite easy. Cone of Cold is an almost god mode spell. Very few resist it and it freezes them for a while for the tanks to hack and slash at them. And by the time it expires, the cooldown has just about ended so you can cast it again.

Mobs are probably the most challenging as you can't neutralize them all so easily. For sure Ser Cautherine and her crew is maybe the toughest in the game, what I did to beat her was pull my party back two rooms so that only a portion of her posse (including her) followed, then killed her and took care of the rest.
