Would it just make more sense for people just to buy the PC version at Gamestop? Or would you still have to link up to Origin.

@ GHNR
Personally I would gladly buy retail at gamestop, but if it woudl require origin i wont. Im hoping bioware keeps this in mind when dealing with their publisher. Its sad how developers are pushed around and abused by publishers now a days. EA means nothing but a pain in the *** to me. I respect bioware however. This is the only reason im even bothering to inquire as to the nescessity of Origin for ME3. I TRULY hope that if i buy the retail version at gamestop i will not need origin.

It will probably be a repeat of the DA2 Steam fiasco. Delay and don't comment until just about the last minute, then drop a standard digital version with no frills.

Well, even if that happens, I am fine with using the steam version even if it is standard. The problem is, I don't se even that happening judging by the current state of affairs.

Oh come on - no matter how much we may bleat, we all know that we will line up to enter the Origin pen, when the shepherd comes calling. :P

( Both the DAs and ME2 involved one of those annoying ¤#!% procedures of creating an account on- and logging into a second service, in addition to Steam, if one bought it there, anyway... )

No way. Im buying normal DVD version. And If it needs new accounts again I might start to pirate games again. Managing 100s of accounts you have to create over years is getting stupid.

The thing is my friend that the BSN account is also connected to an EA account and that is now the origin account. So you really don't need to have a new account. The only thing I don't like is the peeping tom nature of Origin and the fact that I have to install multiple software to manage my games.

Ugh... I'm not sure if I should buy this on origin... Is that whole "After 2 years you have to PAY again for the game" thing still going on?

That's if you are inactive for two years straight on your account, and you may lose your whole account.  I doubt that will be the case soon, but EA has been slow in working on Origin.

The only thing I'm wondering. Dumb question, I know. But If i buy this on Origin, will I still be able to use my Mass Effect 2 save data even though I played it on steam?

Save files are separate from Steam. Documents > BioWare > Mass Effect 2. You won't need to do anything special when loading them for ME3.

great... so my options are going to be preorder from the creepy leering highschoolers at my local gamestop, or order online and hope a delivery actually makes it undamaged for once.

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Mass Effect 3 will be exclusive to EA's
new digital service called Origin.  The bog standard edition of Mass
Effect 3 will be available from other digital retailers.
I have no doubt that closer to the release date you will be able to buy
Mass Effect 3 from steam

Well, we all have Origin accounts from owning the prior games. They certainly tracked that we were playing through steam, and they will know very quickly how many people moved from steam to buy through their crappy service. Hopefully it hasn't already been too many. Hopefully people were not bullied into pre-ordering and justifying their behavior. If enough of us hold off they will see the significant shrinkage to the bottom line and they will then stop acting poorly and deliver this VERY EXPENSIVE toy to us in the manner in which we would like. Games like this make 10s...100s of millions? There will likely be a movie in the future(god, please don't screw it up...just follow the plot and don't michael bay it)...so how about not being bastards over this issue? we want to give you money. Don't make it difficult.

I'm with you, I haven't bought Dragon Age II DLC since it was pulled from Steam, Crysis 2, and I'm not buying ME3 either if I can't get it on Steam. This in spite of the fact I played Both ME1, ME2 and I was looking forward to ME3.

EA's not going to force me to use Origin by not selling games on Steam. EA already has a bad reputation with many gamers and this crap trying to push me to Orgin just reinforces that with me.

may origin have mercy on ME3s soul.
€A should be ashamed of it self. no remorse for their customers, they are just being greedy.
i would love if ME3 would be available on steam or origin is not required for the retail version. but now, €A forces me to do something i dont like to do at all.
i hope you are proud of your self €A. the more DRM you use, the more you punish the honest buyer as my self. you think you stop piracy that way?? no, you just make it stronger.
i really hope this will change, so that i can buy this game, but for now, i sit on my money.

honestly unlike some of the other horrendous drms out there that limit the number of computers you can install a game on origin functions alot like steam where the games are bound to a person not a computer. so i don't really see your argument metal-rocks. the only questionable thing about origin is the scanning of your computer but from what i have been able to determine most of the data origin collects is stuff like driver versions and hardware specs and if you have preinstalled ea games they are automatically activated on your origin account. but i have yet to see origin access my pirated movies or porn collection. i mean what porn ??? additionally the hubaloo about origin accessing your cookies is actually more innocent than you think since the store pages are http based and probibally use their own cookies to cache your login credentials

the one thing that is a bit annoying is requiring the origin client to be running. i dont see why ea could not integrate the origin login into the game it;sself/
