There is little evidence to suggest that the Reapers might be actually trying to help us, but wouldn't it be interesting if Shepard & Co. discovers that the Reapers weren't the big bad monsters in the closet they had been fighting for years? What if the Reapers' intentions were really benign to begin with? Perhaps they were trying to save the species of the galaxy from total extinction via their form of preservation? Perhaps this cycle they follow is due to some other cataclysmic event that takes place in the galaxy every 50,000 years?

Needless to say, it would be cool if the Reapers ended up being our allies after all.

Indeed. They should hire me as a writer.

This is one of the lamest and most cliche moves ever that if it does happen I will just turn the game off.

Aren't you busy making a travesty of the Avatar: The Last Airbender series?

Agreed. The Last Airbender, however, was not.

BACK ON TOPIC: I hate your theory. That is all.

I want to side with the Reapers with one Shep. Nothing like riding into the moon of Palaven with glowing red eyes and psychotic smirk on Harbinger and saying "Ah, yes Reapers. An immortal race of machines that wiped out the Protheans. We have dismissed those claims."

Another thread that touches on the theory of Reapers = Good Guys trying to stop an eternal recurrence (or some other form of Big Bad) is always a good thread in my book. This is sort of the theme that was pursued in the Xenosaga series, very underrated games those.

Theory: Shepard is actually a deranged serial killer and all this nonsense about saving the galaxy from being wiped out is a delusion in her fevered brain.

They won't. I don't think they really listen to any specific fan suggestions.

Would it be more accurate for the Reapers to be considered as villians with good, but unknown, intentions? Going from the view that morality is subjective based on point of view; merely two sides with opposing opinions on the same matter.

Harbinger: I know this tickles you Shepard.

Releasing control of these fresh baked cookies. Eat one and 100 will replace it.

No I'm pretty sure sovereigns menacing lines showed that they are just heartless machines, even if this is their plan we probably won't ally with because they still want to turn us into mince meat

That would possibly be one of the worst plot twists imaginable for ME3.

That might be a fairer assessment. The Reapers are the goodwilled mothers, and the races of the galaxy, inflexible little children who want to eat more cookies than they should...

While I normaly appreciate gray areas and so far the Mass Effect series is full of them but I like to think of the Reapers themselves as being an evil that must be stopped.

Yes! And he wakes up in the afterlife to discover that what he did past Eden Prime never happened.
