Theory: Reapers are the good guys after all.

But, like Daleks in Dr Who, they lack emotion and are simply logical about everything, so think they are supreme for the way they are as they have no emotions allowing them to see their flaws? So isn't this theory partially true. It's just that no, they're not good, in our eyes.
And yeah, I totally made a Dr Who reference.

There is little evidence to suggest that the Reapers might be actually trying to help us, but wouldn't it be interesting if Shepard & Co. discovers that the Reapers weren't the big bad monsters in the closet they had been fighting for years? What if the Reapers' intentions were really benign to begin with? Perhaps they were trying to save the species of the galaxy from total extinction via their form of preservation? Perhaps this cycle they follow is due to some other cataclysmic event that takes place in the galaxy every 50,000 years?
Needless to say, it would be cool if the Reapers ended up being our allies after all.
...they've killed millions and millions of people...but oh wait...it was for our own good...
next scene is me throwing my new ME3 game out my front door underneath a passing truck

I highly doubt it would be anything original. Leaving it all a mystery strengthens the plot in my opinion.

Doesn't Charlie Sheen exist in all dimensions simultaneously?

Theory: Shepard is actually a deranged serial killer and all this nonsense about saving the galaxy from being wiped out is a delusion in her fevered brain.
That^ I like!
What the OP is suggesting is utter tripe. An unstoppable evil that's been developed for two games is suddenly the good guy, unless there is a worse evil to replace it that's just terrible.

The reapers love us so much they want to get us all into their goo-vats so they can drink the resulting goo. It's like the most f*cked up sexual fantasy I've ever heard.
When you put it like that..
I can not unthink about this.

Another thread that touches on the theory of Reapers = Good Guys trying to stop an eternal recurrence (or some other form of Big Bad) is always a good thread in my book. This is sort of the theme that was pursued in the Xenosaga series, very underrated games those.
Oh! I was just about to mention XS lol.
It wouldn't exactly mean that the Reapers are 'good guys', just that they have somewhat remotely comprehensible motives is all. It would still suck. I'm sure if everyone worked together, stopped the Reapers, and pushed forward in research, something could be found to stop the giant event
Just gotta stop the grumpy guss Reapers is all. They're in our way.

Shepard was actually dead the whole time.
These are the only kind of twists I want to see. And that "it was all a dream" one.

Kidnapping humans and turning them into biological goo. This is exactly the kind of help that we need! The Reapers' motivations might turn out to be interesting, but I'm not currently buying in to the idea that they're "good" in any way. That's because I find their use of Indoctrination unacceptable and their apparent belief that organics are inferior life-forms to be rather disagreeable.
Exactly. Even if they are 'saving' us, its still ENTIRELY for the Reaper's own ends. Even if this idea turns out to be what happens, they still suck, and are still villians. I like it.
It'll alert the galaxy to the true threat that everyone must REALLY face. Or something.

Let me guess Garrus was invented by the Reapers to become Turian batman?
