Jesse Houston tells us that the Reapers struck batarian space first, by virtue of it being the furthest south (in galactic terms).  What do you think this means for everyone's favorite four-eyed species?  I know it takes some time to reap an entire race, but considering they are struck completely without warning and have chosen to isolate themselves from the rest of the galaxy, I don't think they have very good chances.

There'll be some on Omega and about surely?

More the reason youll get a batarian squadmate, but human/Batarian differences beside them for vengeance against... well... eveything?

Who knows? Maybe they can be saved, after all I'm still waiting for that Batarian Squadmate.

Well, it's been implied that Batarian husks are the Reaper's main ground troops, so yeah, the Batarians have been assimilated.

I know some will survive, but the question is whether there would be enough left to maintain the viability of the species.

i think so, because it showed all of the batarian husks on earth in the beginning level with the reapers' initial earth assault, and that would be the most sensible explanation as to where they came from

I believe there'll be just as many left as Krogans or Drell. Just enough to maintain a viable population. but not enough to be considered much value, like the Drell.

Well, after Arrival I assume the Reapers went through Batarian space to get to Earth. SO yeah, they're Reaper chow. Not all of 'em, but a lot of 'em. Well, at least I don't have to kill 'em now. For once, the Reapers did me a favor! :wizard:

The best part.
We give the surviving Batarians aid.
Let them start to rebuild.
Then Kill em all!

Well in a positive light at least we don't need to worry about those charges due to the Arrival!

300k was just a drop in the bucket!

They're a poorly written species with no redeeming features, so turning them into faceless grunts isn't much of a change imo. :P

It does make sense that the batarians would be the first victims of the galactic invasion, as their territory was within the Arrival segment, and they would have to pass through their space to get to Earth (the batarians and humans boarder each other by the Skyllian Verge).

Basically, they swept up the batarians while they made a beeline for Earth, and now their going to strike the krogan, asari, turians, etc.

But still, there are a lot of batarians in the Terminus Systems, and I think if a majority of them died, there still might be a feasible amount to rebuild the race once the Reapers are defeated.

they arent poorly written. the fact that we hate them  so much is proof to that. as for redeeming features..well...i could say something, but i dont want to defend batarians. i feel like a need a shower just thinnkin about that.

I don't think they're all gone, the Reapers would take much time to obliterate all the batarians and the other species would be aware of the presence of them.

you may also want to remember the Collector's also got their pound of flesh for services, as mentioned (I believe) by the Shadow Broker. Who's to say they haven't been harvesting small numbers of numerous species over the last few decades, to say get to know their enemies' weaknesses? They may be cloned grunts for all we know right now.
