I would like to see my companions banthering and talking to each other. Like the scene with Tali and the shotgun in Mass Effect 2, only more of this, with more characters etc. (conversations similar to the elevator ones in ME1, but this time skip the elevators). This is something Dragon Age does realy well.
Another thing I would like to see are Normandy interractions. In ME2 we had Miranda vs. Jack, but I would like to see more of those. Not necesarilly fighting one another. This is a thing KotOR 2 has done realy well, and it made characters feel more "alive" and "realistic".

I think there was a mention of this, something about having the Normandy more active with crew interactions or somethin...
It would help, with it being only like 6-8 squadmates. I hope it happens.

I'd also like to see crew members and squad members walking around the Normandy and you can talk to most of them. The less important characters you can pass by and say hello while the more significant characters like Tali and Garrus will allow you to have an in depth conversation with them as you both walk by each other. I think that would create more realism in terms of activity on the Normandy. Players will always receive a new warm welcome whenever they get back on the ship because it's as if everybody is active and doing something rather than doing the same old thing. To keep it simple, all of the major characters should stay on the same ship level. Garrus, Tali, and Liara should stay on their respective 2nd, 3rd, or 4th levels even though they can walk around the area. It'd keep things simpler that way without removing the nice RPG experience. If it comes to a situation where the conversation needs to be talked in private, a small cutscene showing the character and Shepard walking to a private area would ensue. The place they'd be talking at would be the place they'd be assigned to work on like Garrus being at the weapons systems area and Tali being at the engineering deck. I think it would be nice to pop into the men or womens restroom and seeing characters washing their hands and you both say hello (if you're the a male going into a females bathroom, you'll receive a corresponding reaction :P)

Just a thought of how character immersion can be in ME 3 :)

I love the idea but if you have ever played Knights of the old republic 2, one of your robot teammates is always moving around your ship and is really annoying to find

I agree, make scenes where the squad actually leaves their posts for once and interact with each other. It's not like they're restricted to their spot.

If I remember correctly you can tell him to stay put.

Well I wanted him to fix the ship (it may not have any real game effects it makes me feel more immersed).

ive gotta say, if da2 didnt fail as hard as it did, me3 might not have so much material to take in and improve upon. i have a feeling the party banter is going to be over the moon this time.

I can only hope.

Its something I've been crying out for in games since as long as I can remember.

Why shouldn't I wander to the lounge of the Normandy and find Garrus and Ashley engaging in a few drinks and war stories, why can't they wander around and say hi to one another.

Indeed it all goes back to that making the world live and breath, rather than just react. Fingers crossed! There did seem to be an increase in banter during combat. So here's hoping it carries out of combat too.

Mentions of a MAP showing where all the squadmates are at have been brought up in similar threads. It would make finding them much easier, and still allow the squad to move about anywhere in the ship.

Make it happen, Bioware!!!! :wizard:

I would love to see more squad interactions as well, especially on the Normandy. It would be cool to walk to the crew quarters and see Garrus and Legion playing chess, or Wrex getting drunk with Kasumi. Even just having them move around a bit would be a huge improvement.

Seeing as the banter in and inter party member comuniation was amazing in DA2, I really don't see what you are complaining about.

I have to say I love in the demos they released that you could hear some back and forth between the characters. It's something I think people have wanted for a long time. It was great, and I hope it's indicative of what they do with the rest of the game. Hearing Shepard and Anderson and Liara and Garrus comment to each other in the middle of combat was very exciting for me. :)

I totally agree with the OP, I would like the same type of banter that made the DA:O series so good, the character interaction really brought them to life and having them move about the ship interacting with each other would be awesome!  I always felt that the time spent on the Normandy was a little stale and lifeless, you see a couple crew members talking in the crew quarters and then a couple talking at the messhall but thats about it, you would think that the main characters would have alot to talk about and not just with Shep, especially Garrus and Tali, since they are returning squadmates.  I did like the intreraction  between Miranda and Jack, that was classic, not everyone is going to get along all the time and having Shep step in to stop a fight before it gets out of hand is very realistic. I think having cutscenes for story sensitive interaction is awesome, I also think that more team members should be involved in planning or various stages of the game, instead of just having Miranda or Jacob there, I mean every decision that is made is going to effect everyone, so you would think that Shep would want his whole team to know whats going on and get their input.

I would even be happy if at certain stages of the game, there was a short cutscene that showed Shep moving through the ship observing various team members interacting in various ways, like some of the suggestions that have already been mentioned in other posts.  It doesn't have to be a really long intensive cutscene but just something that shows each team members interacting with another one, and maybe the next cutscene they would be interacting with someone else, I mean there has to be some "down-time" with all the travelling between galaxies that they do, and it would be nice to see what they are doing during those times.

The more that comes out of ME3's companions, the better (well, except blood). They're one of (in my opinion, THE) defining mark of ME that makes it great.

I think the Dragon Age series was good for character interaction. They would talk to eachother randomly, and it was funny.

Yup very much looking forwards to this. Going through ME2 right now I am noticing that the third squad member in the loyalty missions NEVER say anything! Sometimes they even 'pop' into place after a conversation cutscene between Shepard and whoever is on the loyalty mission, like they weren't supposed to be there. o.O

I was just remembering that, as far as I can recall, there is only 2 spots in the game (outside of Normandy) that there is any inter-party banter, I always do Grunt's and Mordin's loyalty missions together so I'm not sure if other party members would say the same thing, but when your on the Krogan homeworld, there is a sopt in the Urdnot camp and one in the Wyrloc camp, where Mordin makes a comment and Grunt makes a responce, I'm not going to say what is said or where it is said exaclty but those are the only 2 places that I remember.

One thing I really like about DA2 is the party banter (once again). In contrast to DAO, they also talk about things that only concern the two who are talking. Stuff they did when Hawke wasn't around.
That's pretty cool! Makes them more real.
I've been praying for Dragon Age style party banter ever since I played DAO and loved the character interaction to no end because it was beyond anything I'd ever seen in a video game.
ME doesn't even come close.
But I'm not very optimistic that we'll get the same amount of party banter. Probability is close to zero, I guess.
But maybe if we're lucky we'll get *some* party banter back and it will be even more than the bits in the elevators.

Keep your fingers crossed!
