Yes, both of those things would be cool. Dragon Age is amazing with party banter specific to the two characters (or sometimes a third will chime in in DA2!) talking and really puts a LOT of thought into how each pair of characters would interact with each other. It's a small little touch that makes a HUGE difference for me as far as immersion goes (although, you have to wonder how much time they spent recording dialogue for those banters alone. Every new playthrough I make I STILL find new banter I hadn't heard before, so that's a HELL of a lot of dialogue.)

And seeing squadmates interract with others on the Normandy besides Shepard (maybe even start friendships/relationships with each other. Though, I'm not holding my breath on that one haha.) would be cool as well, and add that much more to the immersion.

The Mass Effect games are stellar in my opinion but it wouldn't hurt the devs to listen to what the fans want. More interaction between the squadmates and Shepard would be a great improvement.

I wholeheartedly agree. Whatever people think about DA2, I really liked the party's interactions with one another, and would like to see more of that if at all possible in ME3.

One of the things that really bugged me about ME2 was how the party members from ME1 rarely recognized each other. Especially Tali and Garrus. Sure, it's implied they're not exactly best friends, but for gods' sake they know each other better than they know the rest of the party. And yet aside from that one "I have a shotgun" conversation they might as well be complete strangers.

The problem with having characters move around the Normandy is the camera angles. If they stay in one spot, the animators can set up different camera angles for the conversations. Whereas if they move around, the only way to have a conversation is make Shepard and the other person stand in one spot, facing each other. Instead of how Miranda would walk around her office while she was talking, or how Shepard would sometimes sit on the crate when he/she talked to Garrus.

I don't necessarily agree that they should walk around, but an occasional "finding them in mid-conversation at a set point in one's story arc" would be nice.

DA2 was the king of banter... ME1 had some and ME2 none. They need to fix this for ME3 badly...

Indeed. I hope the devs will do something about it.

I'm behind this 100%. Whatever your opinion of DA2, the interaction between your companions was a definite high point for Bioware.

There were recognisable relationships between your companions that developed as the game progressed. Some were good friends, others didn't like each other. Some had nicknames for each other. You would go to visit a companion and occasionally find them engaged in conversation with one of the others. During missions they would discuss events from prior missions or aspects of their personal lives. This all combined together to make them more believable and human and not just a collection of pixels.

There were a couple of moments like this in ME2, confrontations between Jack/Miranda and Legion/Tali but these were mostly about Shepherd intervening. I was disappointed when there was little recognition when Garrus or Tali were with you and you ran into Ash/Wrex/Kaiden/Liara and there was no acknowledgement of their past relationship.

I want to see some pure character moments between companions that are only there to make you believe and invest in these characters. ME is Shepherd's story but your companions are the supporting cast. The more you believe in them, the stronger Shepherd's story will be.

I would love to see more squad interactions as well, especially on the Normandy. It would be cool to walk to the crew quarters and see Garrus and Legion playing chess, or Wrex getting drunk with Kasumi. Even just having them move around a bit would be a huge improvement.

Thane and Garrus discussing sniper rifles?

...or comparing their guns.

...or worse... CALIBRATING their guns..

I can already picture it! "Can it wait for a bit, we're in the middle of some calibrations."

Yup very much looking forwards to this. Going through ME2 right now I am noticing that the third squad member in the loyalty missions NEVER say anything! Sometimes they even 'pop' into place after a conversation cutscene between Shepard and whoever is on the loyalty mission, like they weren't supposed to be there. o.O

Yeah. It's annoying. I'm sure you know all about what happens when you take Legion on Tali's mission. He does get a reaction, but then the Quarians are like "oh, sure, whatever" and things just carry on as normal, and there's a trial about bringing active geth with a ****ing active geth standing right there. It's bloody ridiculous.

And then there's Mordin's loyalty mission...

Shepard: What if [Maelon] speaks to other Krogan and tells them about the modified genophage project?
Mordin: No proof, and Krogan willingness to work with Salarian unusual. Other Krogan will kill him.
Urdnot Grunt: ...

Really, I hope they don't have that sort of nonsense in ME3.

Despite its shortcomings DA2 did a great deal of things right (to this day I am convinced if it was developed by a company not called Bioware or had been named differently it would have been extremely successful) and the inter-character relations are one of them. Having Varric and Isabela making fun about Aveline's crush on one of her guardsmen, Isabela and Aveline explaining to Merrill about sex.

I remember when I was doing Isabela's personal quest for Act 3 that required me to fool a thug by pretending I was betraying her. The conversation went something like this:

Isabela: Now, this needs to be convincing. And you'll need to get creative—call me names, even hit me. Stick with it, no matter what I do. Velasco's a clever son of a ****. If you waver, he'll notice.

Diplomatic Hawke: I don't think I can pull this off

Isabela: Come on, haven't you ever wanted to slap me? Just a little?

Then the conversation branches off to include the other 2 squadmates with their replies being
Aveline: Absolutely.
Fenris: Yes.
Anders: Yes.
Varric: Yes.
Merrill: Yes... wait, what are we voting on?
Sebastian: Is that a trick question?
Isabela: I wasn't asking you people!
Varric: Face it. You set yourself up for that one.

I really liked the cutscenes in DA2 where you would click on one member and you would see them interacting with another member of the team ( The Izzy/Merrill card game was my fave cute and sweet =) ) I would love to see this in ME3.

I would also love it if the characters had more animation and interaction with the area they are assign to. Like if Tali is in the engine she would walk around the core with her Omni tool talking scans or occasionally at a terminal giving reports to either EDI or another crew member.

Just walking to their area and seeing them stand still or sitting there doing nothing during the whole game was really lifeless and boring. Now that we are in a war I just don't want to see my team sitting on their thumbs.

This is something that Bioware did with KOTOR, NA and DA, but for reasons unknown, never got around to do in ME. Strange... :\\
