Kaidan(/Ash), Garrus, Mordin, Liara and Tali.
Tali can be substituted for Wrex though.

Kaidan because he is a LI for my Shepard, Garrus, Liara and Tali/Wrex because they've been with Shep since the beginning of the series and are loyal and reliable, and Mordin because he is plain awesome.

These two are non negotiable to me. Everyone else is optional companion-wise. Of the rest that haven't been confirmed, I'd greatly enjoy having Jack and Mordin back. I'll throw in Thane as the last choice to score Wife-points.

Not to mention, Tali is chief engineer, and either Garrus, Ash, or Miranda is probably going to be Shepard's XO.

The problem with leaving those out is the "bottom of the barrel" problem, namely that it's hard to think of those you missed.

I don't actually want Tali or Garrus, but I can't see there being another game without them. As for Jacob, potentially they could replace him with someone more "popular."
