Okay, so Mass Effect had 6 possible squadmates, with each of the coolest ones (the aliens) being optional.  Mass Effect 2 had a team of 10, not counting DLC or Morinth (which would make it 13).

In Mass Effect 3, I think the following have been confirmed: Garrus, Ash/Kaidan, James, Liara, Tali?  That makes 5 right there, if you count Ashley and Kaidan as one.  Now I wonder who the 6th might be.  Possibly a mystery character, like Legion was.

Though Christina Norman said squadmates will work differently this time around. So who knows? Maybe there is no such thing as permanant squaddies. I hope so though, at least for Ash.

I like my original team the best, minus Wrex. I'm not too fond of Krogans, so Grunt is out as well. I love Miranda, but I just don't like her "hail Cerberus" attitude that much. Although as long as she isn't praising Cerberus, we're cool. I was never fond of Jacob. Thane's alright. Kasumi could be fun, and I don't like Zaeed. Jack is a little too much for me, in terms of anger and fury (although perhaps better on a romanced play-through).

I think that final option for me would be Mordin or Samara.

am i the only one who would like all of them to be permanent squaddies? i like all of them. both games have such strong character development that it's really hard to choose just a couple of them. oh well... if i were to choose then they would be: Garrus, Legion, Grunt/Wrex, Ashley, and Miranda. i'm also hoping Mordin would be in the Normandy Tech Lab. he doesn't have to fight, just be there, since i thought he really has THE best backstory/character development i've seen in both games.
