I guess they had to introduced this James Vega dude since it's possible that half of our squad is dead and buried, but it's almost painful to think that his slot could otherwise have been taken by an old squadmate that I would have enjoyed a lot more. Let's hope he's more than just a typical Alliance grunt.

I'd rather have Mordin instead of Jack for example, but it doesn't make much sense for him to be permanent.

No one, actually.

This is why: I like team members to have important roles in the plot. That would necessitate a temporary absence of the team in almosst all cases. See Liara: it is incongruous that she is permanently on the team with her job as the SB. Yes, that also applies to Miranda.

However, I would like these characters to be present on the team for a significant part of the game, which means several main plot missions and the endgame.
