It would be nice if a developer could tell us if it's going to be a CE exclusive or not. Just a yes no answer. maybe they already has? (I just registered on here a few hours ago, and I'm not really 'up-to-date' with all the info just yet)

But that would spoil the surprise! In any case, I bet one of my paychecks that they won't say squat right up until ME3's release. End of story. :P

Well, we're talking about a special edition worth quite a lot of money here. I don't want to spend 80 bucks, or whatever, because I want access to every squad mate, just to find out on the day of release that it wasn't an exclusive after all. The CE's aren't going to be in stock forever, so I need to know what edition of the game to order.

I'm betting you that every new copy of ME3 will have the bonus squadmate. Sort of a Zaeed situation.

Pre-order CE's and if you don't like it, take a normal edition, you won't lose your pre-order bonuses (at least at gamestop)...

this is what I did for New Vegas, and I kind of regret it... :pinched:

Crazy Jim, the lunatic survivalist prothean. He built a doomsday bunker, and now he wants some redneck spacebug payback!

Seriously though, there are plausible explanations for the survival of one or more protheans.

Even with an official confirmation of non-existence, people still refuse to believe it. It is obvious as daylight that there will be something Prothean related in that DLC. But I strongly doubt it will be a squadmate; that just doesn't make any sense.
1. Risk the life of the last Prothean in casual quests? Seriously? That's stupid even on the background of a war with the Reapers.
2. Imagine Cerberus troopers' or even a Reaper's "face" when they'll see him in a battle. The first one will instantly faint, the other will have a critical system error. Not much of a fight, eh?

I'd be fine as long as he wasn't a squadmate. Be an interesting history lesson

We got a geth squaddie, and he turned out badass. It could be like the geth heratic thing maybe. All I know is that I want one. Badly.

I'm not against a Prothean-related DLC, but a Prothean squadmate would just be... stupid, in my opinion.

It was probably removed because the reveal was too soon. In the description it's refered to as "Day 1 DLC" IIRC, So I'm thinking that it will be available to everyone (at a price), but it comes free with the CE bundle.

1. Why? What's so important about this guy, given the grim reality of a Reaper war. Do you think he is like some sort an egg or an ark from which the Prothean race can be revived or something? We already learn in ME1 that the Protheans were just another regular bunch of guys who found out how to use the Reapers' mass effect tech. Is this guy some sort of Sage or something? Who's to say he isn't just some luck schmo managed to stay in stasis this whole time.

2. Again, how and why, at either scenario? Protheans aren't gods, they're just dudes. We fight their decendants in ME2 and those guys were just bugmen. That Cerberus guys you're talking about's just gonna be like: "WTH is this guy? I'll just shoot him." Also, the notion of a Reaper blowing up upon the sheer sight of a race it itself already conquered is retarded.

I'm not saying a Prothean squadmate is necessarily a good idea, just that if it is a bad idea, it'd be for totally different reasons than you gave.

I'd only accept it if the Prothean was named Buck and he came with a annoying robot sidekick.

I'd only accept if the Prothean acts and sounds like Ed Grimley.

I like the idea of the group of protheans sent to the citadel still being there in statis and hidden by the keepers. After all, Vigil did say that he didn't know what happened to them.

I can only hope! If it is true i want him to be a mordin type character :) smart but deadly. Not sure whether it would look like a collector or not though? The reapers messed around with them a lot.

In Mass Effect 1: 'We do not know what happened to the Prothean team after this point'
In Mass Effect 2: 'We believe there may indeed be surviving Protheans out there'

Stop saying it is stupid or it screws with the lore, they had this planned all along.

It was stated that the only reason so many Protheans died in storage was due to the fact they were running out of energy to keep them in stasis.

With the Citadel they would have probably had more than enough power to keep 12 Protheans alive almost indefinitely. It could even be possible that they woke up every couple of thousand years to see if the Citadel was occupied.

Heck a couple of them could have even had children for those awake periods.

I also like the idea that at least one Prothean survived as a giant fu to the Reapers. ;) Not so perfect now are you!

Chris Priestly, the same guy who said that there was no Kasumi, that Arrival wasn't planned and that Legion was not a squadmate said that there is no Prothean DLC.

Draw your own conclusions.

Making a Prothean a DLC character would not work. That sounds like a crucial story element to me. I actually was wondering if BioWare was going to introduce a Prothean in ME3 before this leak was heard of.

Most likely all new copies will get him. They only forgot to remove the details on the Collector's edition. He is going to be like Zaeed.*

*speculation

HOW DARE YOU ! I found this idea awesome ! I even thought about a come-back on Ilos to discover there is one guy somewhere still kept frozen ! that would be frickin' great !

Not in my mind. I'd be like, "seriously?"

I agree with this. One thing that makes the protheans so mysterious is the fact that THEY'RE GONE. If suddenly a prothean survived and even happens to know a way to stop the reapers, that would just be the worst possible plot twist that could be in ME3. I am getting the CE but IF it turned out this prothean DLC character was real, I wouldn't even download it.

I suppose it's possible that a base survived a la Ilos, but a lot of things would have to have gone right. It would be interesting if, as suggested by an earlier poster, that the Protheans who went on the suicide mission to the Citadel somehow managed to put themselves in stasis. Even though it seems unlikely, I kind of do want to see a live Prothean.
