 Does anyone know if there are any plans, at any retailer, to have a midnight release?

The guy at my Gamestop said they weren't seeing as there are many other games coming out that day, as well as the huge midnight release of Modern Warfare 2 the week after

I think the owner of the Game Crazy I reserved from is a HUGE Bioware fan, he says that a few select of us may be able to receive it on midnight (himself obviously included) Lucky me. : )

As far as I know no gamestops are doing a midnight release. So just be there at the crack of dawn when they open. haha.

The crack of dawn is 10am in Las Vegas. They don't have the CE anyway.

I managed to get Fallout 3 Midnight release at best Buy almost by accident last year. I was just hoping it would fall into my lap this year

Last midnight event we had in our area was when the 7th Harry Potter book came out.



Now we just wait until the day the game comes out and get there when the mall opens.

Weird, my local Gamestop is doing a midnight release because there are other games coming out. At least that's what the gamestop manager said to me earlier today...

I don't think this game has the mass media pull of the other games to have a midnight launch.

I am actually really suprised how low profile DA:O release is. I haven't really seen any adds on tv in Australia for it and hardly anything is mentioned in the game shops, not even a stand. Specially with EA backing of the game I expected more

And yet they have ran out of CE (physical) pre-orders almost everywhere. Heck some don't have any extras until 6 days later. I'm sure more adverts will appear before xmas if they need more sales. But I think the cult following is more then enought for now.

They put an ad in the World Series time slot. That is expensive... I think.

but in short, yeah. im beyond surprised that a game of this caliber will be launching quietly compared to many other games of this generation.

In the middle of nowhere, where I live, EA managed to **** up the release and the games are arriving late. They can't even tell exactly how late, just that it's the week after, around, -ish.

Well the marketing push has been pretty big... I'd wager the lack of mainstream interest has to do that DA is ultimately a niche experience.  And with the PC version at the forefront, the console versions; despite looking like very good ports, probably won't draw as much interest from the mainstream crowd.

I'm not really surprised.

DAO seems like one of those games where everyone went "Holy ****, it sold XXXXX amount of units and went gold!" I don't think that people, retailers included, really expected DAO to explode like it has so no one was really prepared for something like a midnight release. That's not something you just come up with on the fly. They are usually scheduled pretty far in advance, are they not? Don't want to open a shop at midnight and no one show up because they only had a few weeks to promote it.

i think i need to be doing this as well...

telling myself the game is only 2.5 days away is SOOOO much better than 3.5!!!

may have to give the MRS the copy from tuesday and grab myself a midnight walmart copy on monday...

My local GameStop is going to be doing one, wasn't able to get the CE, but I'll definitely have a PC copy after I get off work Monday night (I get off at 11:30pm local time). GameStops are a bit flakey, some games have mandated midnight launches (Modern Warfare 2 being a prime example), but if they get enough pre-orders done local store mangers can decide to do a midnight launch or not.



I'm debating whether to pick up the Collector's Edition hardback Strategy Guide for my later run throughs. It'll come down to how the layout looks and if there is enough nice art in it.

Here in Ohio I honestly don't know if my GameStop will have a midnight release but we haven't had a midnight release due to security & money issues since the original xbox so I am going with a no but I'm leaving at 8AM to wait for the mall to open at 10AM b/c I have nothing else to do that day!!!! lol
