"Alliance Prime Minister: Enemies are in orbit, there is a problem with the communication systems."
Edit: That's at 1 minute, but the end of the 'communications systems' bit is repeated in the 50sec mark.

Are the reapers attacking Europe first? well...thats just mean.
According to the news feed its a global attack but they maybe focusing alot more of their forces in Europe.
Europe has a wide array of nations = big combined military strength which that makes it a threat to the reapers so maybe attacking the strongest group will weaking the whole, also is Europe officially a Country in the ME universe and not alot of nations just one?
No, Europe is not 1 nation.
As far as we know EU is now Federation of European countries like USA and Russia today.

Well Wiki doesn't say it's Federation, but sounds like it works like that.
And it makes sense.

Doesn't Alliance has only 200 ships?Codex...
The Alliance maintains an impressive navy consisting of over 200 vessels ranging from small hundred meter frigates to imposing kilometer long dreadnoughts and carriers. It is one of the greater forces in Citadel space and a serious rival to that of the turians, however, the Alliance is only entitled to a small number of dreadnoughts compared to the turians, a 1 to 5 ratio as of 2183, due to the Treaty of Farixen limiting their construction among the citadel races. The Alliance navy has made up for this with the innovative design and deployment of carriers, which are as large as dreadnoughts but are not restrained by the Treaty of Farixen. The fleet is headquartered at Arcturus Station,a strategically invaluable installation whose system contains several primary mass relays leading to human territory in addition to the secondary mass relay to Earth, and as such it is heavily defended by sizable naval forces.
You can argue it says over 200 but why would it say over 200 instead of over 1000?
there is no codex entry that confirms that number. those numbers are from the frirst mass effect book, set nearly 30 years before ME1

30 years with huge colony expansion is not enough to even double that number, let alone to be in 1000s then.
My money is that doctor ****** is an idiot.

Yeah it is possibal to build up a huge force in a small amount of time, Like Germany in 1933 when hitler came to power in just 7 years germany went from only having 100,000 men with no tanks, Warplanes, subs and only 7 battleships to having one of the most advanced and biggest armies in the world, Just think how many new ships the Alliance navy could make in 30 years! And the alliance was rebuilding its fleet after the first attack so they would of done it at a fast pase as a sense of security.tobynator89 wrote...

Earth is screwed. Why don't just blow it all up and kill thousands of Reapers? Oh wait, we can't. Damn...
Earth is not only one attacked.
It is confirmed that Palaven and Tuchanka are attacked too and entire "South" part of Milky Way.
Then it is as i have always said. The Reapers ATTACK EVERYWHERE, they dont BEGIN with EARTH.
