I think we, as Mass Effect fans, should help Mass Effect 3 beat Halo 4. ^_^
Don't get me wrong, I like Halo! I just think Mass Effect deserves the title of GOTY more than Halo does, its gotten old. I think we should help promote Mass Effect 3, and help it bring the video gaming giant that is the Halo series to its knees! Hahahahaha! Who agrees/supports Mass Effect 3 for 2012 GOTY?!

//Supports

Long live Mass Effect!

ME3 = Start of 2012...
Halo 4 = Christmas Holiday period of 2012...

Thus... 2012 is the year of ME3 not Halo4 because you won't be able to play the latter all year as you can the former.

You're right. Halo 4 might get delayed into 2013 too, though unlikely. Even if Halo 4 gets 2013 GOTY while ME 3 gets 2012 GOTY we can at least support Mass Effect 3!

I don't see why we all can't play both? I play Reach and ME2 and i plan on playing ME3 and Halo 4. I think we need to worry more about CoD:MW3 more. I will be veryy pissed if that wins GOTY against ME3.

I am thinking that its going to be hard to support a game I have not played yet.  In a way, it is good that the games come out at different times - this may in fact be the result of marketing genious.  Let each game stand on their own merits, and let no ones shadow cover another contender.

Halo is under new production we should wait to see what Halo is offering before we consider it
even a contender. Too early to take seriously.

What I think the OP was trying to say: He wants ME 3 to sell well so it can become a cultural Icon like the great Bungie game Halo. Which is a noble intention.

The truth is in order to do that Mass Effect will need to gain some fans. I don't know when the last time a singleplayer game like Mass Effect sold those type of numbers. I can see why there is speculation that the franchise could be moving in a multiplayer direction.

Something that baffles me is how games like Halo and Call of Duty do the large sales that they do. I have always felt like an outsider because I just don't get those games.

Sorry but I'm still waiting for that franchise to have new game.

Every single one of them are just Halo 1 with improved graphics.

I love ME3 but Halo looks like its gonna be good! Halo never gets GOTY anyway. Even when it has deserved it. You should be more worried about Modded Warfail 3.

Why?
I never seen more successful generic shooter franchise.

You should be more worried about Modded Warfail 3.

It's released in 2011 and I hope that failure of game fails, at least in Activision eyes in sales.

If it aint broke don't change it

And theyve done stuff to liven up the game and change it over the years, keeps it fresh

I just want to see where the Chief ends up after Halo 3, and MW3 comes out a few months before the VGA's

I wish I had played the Halo series, as it stands I figure that I'm way to far behind to start now.

Anyway the games I am looking forward to are the new Assassin's Creed (They better finish it this time) and ME3.

Of course ME3 is number one.

Never to old to start Halo and the Developers of Assassin's Creed say the new one will tie up things between Brotherhood and AC3. So no, Revelations wont be the end of the story sadly.

I have friends that swear by Halo, but that's only for the multiplayer aspect. I have yet hear anything good or bad about the story, and that's what matters to me. The last shooter I liked playing online was CoD2 (back when it was still set in WW2), all the modern warfare stuff sucks IMHO.

That sucks about AC, I reckon it's time to step out of the Animus and fight the Templars in modern times. However I am only a single lowly gamer. =(
