In the E3 demo which takes place on earth following Shepard and Anderson's "escape" from the trial there's a section where Anderson finds a radio and presumably calls the Alliance from it. The woman on the other end refers to him as Admiral. So does this mean in the time between ME2 and ME3 Anderson has become Admiral of the Alliance Navy? If so does that mean Hackett is still around? I don't know much about military ranks, as you can probably tell.
Anderson is an Admiral in ME3?

If you don't make him the Human member of the Council in Mass Effect 1, then he becomes a Rear Admiral and Councillor Udina's chief military advisor in Mass Effect 2. In Mass Effect 3 he's probably been re-assigned and/or promoted to Vice-Admiral and given a posting on Earth. And that's not just any woman's voice, it's Ashley, and he calls her 'Lieutenant'. Looks like she finally got her commission.

Huh...I suddenly find myself wondering if Anderson would still be in that scene if he became a councillor. I think he would be. Sure, he has citadel obligations, but him and Shepard are tight.

Ah, I've always elected him for the council just because I simply despise Udina, so I'd never heard him referred to as Admiral. Cheers for the clear-up.
