The romances in ME2 were terrible in general.

Miranda's "I'm perfect, you are powerful and attractive, we need to have sex, in the engine room, on the floor, with our cloths on". No thank you.

Ashley's background story, personality and romance were a lot more realistic and fullfilling (as far as a game romance that is).

It's really not fair to even compare the two. And the new Ashley look is much better also.
