Since omni weapons are OSOK, wouldn't it better to do just that?

It's not one shot.

Well... that's only if the charge doesn't knock them away.

As far as videos give informations, the holographic blade does not inevitably OHKs. The only OHK we saw was when the target was frozen and when grabbing the pityful fool out of cover.

Conditional OHK as far as I see it. Also, balancing is not yet complete.

IDC, I'll just use Shottie anyway. 20% cooler.

Vanguard Charge+Melee+Shotgun or Vanguard Charge+Shotgun+Melee

We'll find out in March.

Oh the decisions.. shotgun to the face or blade to the face? I can't decide! More choices for vanguards? Yes, please.

Use a shotgun that fires blades. The best of two worlds!

Is it confirmed that all classes even have the omniblade? The E3 stuff was all soldier, and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that all different classes would have a unique melee attack.

I just assumed the blade was soldier specific.

You can't put inferno ammo on  an omniblade  :innocent:

Besides look at the new reload times, you won't even need the trick to get a good rof on the claymore

All classes have Omni-blade for stealth attack but for heavy melee attack only Soldier has it.

They said biotics would get some kind of a biotic punch.

I'm still disappointed that Bianca didn't actually shoot out crossbow wielding guitarists.

Honestly, it just makes sense to give melee to the vanguards (I know, all classes are getting some melee love) since they are the close-quarter specialists.

I suspect the shotty will be better but the onmi blade will allow you to use other weapons. Shoot the guy a couple times at range, charge in and knife him without swapping weapons.

I do wonder if improved melee will leave much of a niche for shotguns

Shotguns (especially Claymore) nearly guarantee (keyword: guarantee) a OSOK.

Melee does not.

The E3 demo looked like Casual difficulty and melee didn't guaranteed insta-kills which makes it unlikely it will be powerful enough to replace something like the Claymore on Insanity (I hope).

It would be really bad if the only feature of ME2 that really affected weapon performance would become obsolete with the introduction of insta-kill-melee-attacks.

considering the Engineer's heavy melee is an electric attack

what's to say the Vanguard won't have some heavy biotic powers attached to their melee?
