Mass Effect Plot Hole?

In "The Arrival" dlc, it is revealed that the reapers were planning to use a relay in a batarian system that could connect to all other relays in the galaxy. Sheapard ends up blowing up the relay and delaying the reapers for the time being. However this begs the question- Why didn't soveriegn use this relay in order to gain access to illos/ the Mu relay. Incase you may have forgotten, the Mu relay was a relay that gave access to the planet Illos and the conduit. Soverign actually bothered to go through the trouble of brining back a dead species(The rachni) in order to gain access to it. Why go through all this when he could have simply accessed the relay in the batarian system to reach Illos. Is there something im missing, or is this simply a hole in the plot?

So yesterday while wondering if earth had ever been harvested by the reapers in the past(story for another time), I went on a thought tanget and eventually ended up realizing a plot hole in the Mass Effect series.

"We have to stop the collectors!"
"Why?"
"Because they're kidnapping humans!"
"Why?"Well, they're building a human based reaper! That's hella bad news!"
"Oh, ok. This is a serious threat!.
""Oh yeah, incidentally, the reapers are gonna be here in like, a week."
"Okay! Wait...what!?
""I know, bogus, right?"
"So shouldn't we be trying to rally the various civilizations of the galaxy!?"
"Huh?"
"If the reapers are on our doorstep, then what's the point of risking our necks fighting the collectors? Is the human-reaper hybrid even going to be finished by then!?"
"Oh no, not a chance, but we need to build a team!"
"WHY!?"
"Listen, I've been dead for like, two years. Playa's gotta play, right?
"You want to risk condemning all sentient life because you haven't gotten laid in two years!?"
"You make it sound bad when you say it like that dude. Besides, I need to make some new friends too!"

Yeah, there's no plot hole. Just a huge filler known as ME2.

I feel like the crazy guy who, for sixty years constantly goes like "The Earth rotates! The Earth rotates! The Earth rotates!" and he is killed for it, and many years later- the world acknowledges that- yes, the Earth does indeed rotate, and the opinion is never questioned again and any contrary claim is laughed at and discarded as terribly retarded...

Actually when you play ME2 you only know that the collectors abduct humans and that TIM thinks they work for the Reapers without proof (he even admits it). For all Shepard knows they could be dacades away in dead space.
Also it isn't that you can't try to warn people about the Reaper invasion, it's just nobody wants to listen to you.
So what would you do? Right you follow the possible lead and learn more about the collectors.
Just because when the game is over and you actually have all information and would have acted different now it is a plothole. Guess our whole lifes are plotholes too?

The game itself - basically a huge filler, that has little to nothing to do with the overall plot. It's like those crazy Naruto fillers that used to come on TV.
The ammo - let's downgrade from awesome futuristic sci fi weapons to bullets.
Shepard dies....to be revived less than five minutes later (real life time)...pointless.
There are more...I just don't feel like continuing.
