Remember at the end of Mass Effect 2 when we blew up the base you can see Harbinger release control of one of the collectors on their base, you can see a collector look around at his environment as if he had freed will for the first time only to see a huge explosion caused by Shepard in the collector base that killed him. Remember that guy? I think a collector as a crew member would be useful in terms of being an enemy turned to your cause what greater weapon is there to use their own knowledge against them- to quote the lovely Bastila Shan from kotor

Also I want to know how a Collector would talk without a mouth or even think without having a master?

Eh, without anyone to control them, the Collectors are literally mindless drones.

Like the Keepers on the Citadel. They're doing what they were "programmed" to do.

Yea. Hope not. Plus, like everyone mentioned, they're pretty much mindless drones. I honestly thought they were pretty forgettable. The Geth were great "stormtroopers". The Collectors? Not so much.

Yeah, I agree. The Collector General was the only Collector with a mind of its own. The actual soldiers were mindless drones. If anything, that downloadable character is probably going to be a Prothean robot or something. Perhaps something like Vigil except a soldier.

Regarding the Collector General, there's a large part of me that would love to have him on the squad if it didn't get in the way of Epic Storyline.
