On Garrus' recruiting mission, my Shepard always complained that Garrus shot him/her. But I never even lost my shields when I fought my way over to him.

Now as a wannabe student of military tactics, I've always rushed from cover to cover. Lingering too long in the open just makes you sniper bait. But does Garrus actually shoot you if you linger out in the open? Or is that just a glitched line that always appears anyway?

He shoots you before the fight starts. If you stand in one spot too long. Anywhere in that alley. From the first barrier to the Gunship. He will shoot you more than once.

I can imagine Shepard going:

Shepard: Dammit. He shot me. Dammit, he shot me again. *Ad infinitum*

TEN MINUTES LATER

Garrus: Hey Shepard, what are you doing here?

Shepard: Garrus?

Garrus: Yeah?

Shepard (Shoots Garrus in the knee) That's for shooting me a thousand ****ing times!

Don't you think that's a bit of an overkill with the whole "shot by rocket" debacle?

When you first enter the Archangel area, EDI talks to you, normally when she pops up I stop to listen to what she has to say so no other NPC's comments would interrupt her message, if you do stop it is pretty much at the first spot Garrus' shot can hit you, your not in combat mode at that time so no need to rush from spot to spot but you can get nailed.

Garrus: Hey Shepard, what are you doing here?

Shepard: Garrus?

lol!! i cant believe i never had him shoot me before, my reuniun with garrus is always my shepard super happy putting his arms out for a hug. its odd that i never had him shoot me before because i NEVER use cover on that part. i just slowly walk behind the mercs, then ambush when i get closer.

No, no. BEFORE that part. As in before you talk to Chalak or whatever the batarian mechanic's name is. While exploring the mercs' makeshift base of operations.

My last playthrough he shot me before I went through the door to that area. I was walking around the end of the hall looking for ( I don't know ) something. It's where the eclipse mercs are on the barricade, you can't go around them and you must go through that first door to get to the area where dude is working on the gunship. I'm just standing there and BAM shields down. I thought WTF. I knew he would shoot, but not with me back there. He usually hits me when I'm over by the Gunship. I could see hip pop his grasshopper head up, waaay of in the distance. Ticks me off cuz you're not in combat mode.
