What I want the Paragon system to become.

So, it's occured to me that the Paragon/Renegade duality, and indeed every alignment system, could work very well if it shifted to being a resource, either in part or fully.
I can see this working in two ways.

1) In a given discussion we have, as in the earlier games, a normal renegade option, a normal paragon option, a blue, and a red. However, in contrast to the earlier games, the red and blue options do not grant additional renegade or paragon points, and we rather than an ever increasing requirement for the special options we simply have threshholds which are required to choose them, resulting in discussions where you must choose carefully whether you take the "easy" way out of the conversation, or you risk a non-perfect outcome in exchange for access to new options in the future.

2) This is almost identical to the version above, but takes it a step further; using red or blue options actually costs you your points, you essentially use them to "buy" your way through conversations, but allows the system to be expanded; access to specific equipment or companions could take points too, you could even say using your most powerful kit uses up points too, but that's probably more suited to a fantasy game.

In any case, I'd really like to see more conversations with only one of the two coloured options instead of both.

What do you guys think?

Interesting idea... Don't know if it would work or drive me crazy buy a viable alternative! Well done

I think 1 is good, but 2 is not my fancy. I'm not sure how you would make that make sense in the game world.

That sounds terrible. I'd prefer ME2's system to that.

2 is awful.

I don't necessarily mind 1, but where do the points come from?

I'd much rather have Dragon Age 2's system.
No morality points, persuasion is dependent on how the player character approaches things.

Yeah, I'd like that too. Mostly so those of us who don't play pure paragon or renegade don't get slapped about it later.

Honestly, I'd prefer the original ME1/DA:O's systems.
