class-unique cutscenes ( and level progression)...

ME seems to be getting more and more cinematic as it goes along, and the ME3 demos imply that trend will be continuing. That's fine, but to me it seems cutscenes can be implemented without making it seem like the player is taking time out to be fed preset, static story sequences. Nothing dramatic, simply little distinguishing touches can do, particularly in reference to class (ignoring player choice here).

For instance, during the demo with the reaper crab, the balcony shepard is standing on collapses and he falls heavily on his back (or was it his face?). This makes sense for a soldier or engineer, who doesn't focus on physical agility, but an adept might be able to use biotics to float to the ground, while an infiltrator might pull some gymnastics and be able to turn the fall into a roll. The cutscene is very short, but depending on your class it could play out a way unique to your class (and hence character). A similar principle applies to the door Shepard forces open for Anderson in the Earth demo. It makes sense for soldier classes to use brute strength to force it open, which is actually what happens, but wouldn't it make more  sense for an adept or sentinel to open it with biotics, and a tech class with their omnitool? (Going to skip over interrupts at the moment).

This should also apply to squadmates. A bit later there's another short cutscene where Garrus slams a Cerberus trooper in the back, knocking him over, and Liara then dispatches the downed soldier with a pistol shot. For all I know the devs are doing exactly this, but how the takedown goes should vary depending on who the two squadmates are. An obvious example would be that if Liara hits the trooper first, she pistol whips him on the back of the head rather than knocking him down like a football player. Or using a biotic push.

And while I'm at it, I'll also note that level design and progression in the series has also always been linear, and while that's understandable given the scope of things, it would be nice of player class had a slight effect on the way levels play out, outside of raw combat. Again, this has remained pretty much the same for all playthoughs in previous games-no matter who you are, breaking into the Weyrloc base or Hock's vault  goes the same way every time-you do the same things and hit the same buttons. While having multiple paths for every mission is probably too much to ask for, couldn't your class or abilities have a slight influence on the way you move forward (ignoring player choice, again)?

The obvious example of this is having the engineer be able to, say, hack an automated turret to help during a defense sequence. Other classes will have to do without it. And if you round a corner and see an enemy closing a blast door, normally you would have to take a short detour but a Vanguard might use the charge ability to teleport behind the door before it closes and open it from the other side. An infiltrator could use cloaking to sneak past a security system that all other classes trigger (and hence have to endure another fight) and so on and so forth.

Maybe this seems insignificant, but to me small things like that could go a ways to making each time you see the same cutscene or level a little bit different. And since there will probably be a lot of cutscenes...

Well. I think it would help, but maybe that's just me.

I haven't seen a whole lot of topics on this subject, but I aplogize in advance if I missed something important.

Good idea, or better to make sense on what weapons each class is carrying and not render to a soldier carry an Avenger like in ME2.

This would be cool, I was always annoyed my adept Shepard did no biotics thing during cut scenes but it would take up a lot of resources and time to do this.

It won't happen. Too many variables, too much space on disc (especially Xbox users)

Doubtful, but it would be awesome. My adept uses biotics more than anything else, and her sniper rile (thank you, Collector ship!) when shooting. I always got a bit irked that I was somehow carrying an assault rifle everywhere...

This is a wonderful idea, I've always though that class specific actions and cutscenes would benefit the game greatly, also I'd love for each class to have and uber attack you can only perform once in a while, like the biotic shockwave at the Collector'ss base for adepts for example.

In ME1 I thought it was a nice touch that when your squad is getting ready for a fight - when they're trying to take your guns in Noveria for example - Liara starts glowing rather than drawing her gun.

I would love it.

The scene from ME2 that most sticks out is LotSB, when my Adept Shep and the Asari Spectre broke through the window - the Asari Spectre managed to float to the ground whilst my Shep landed in a heap. Whilst Asari are, naturally, better with biotics, I thought Shep could have used them even a little to soften the fall...

But as many others have said, it all falls down to disc space, time, etc :/

I agree, although it would be nice, the amount of resources that it would take to figure in all the variables and create cutscenes for each of them just wouldn't be a justifiable expense, and it would take up way to much disk space, it might turn a 1 disk game into a 2 disk game or more.  But it is a good thought but highly unlikely that it would ever happen, maybe if they limited it to only one or two cutscenes at significant times in the game, maybe it could be done but still unlikely.

I guess it depends on how widespread it is. As far as I'm concerned, even only a hadful of scenes (the big ones) with multiple permutations would help.

I was about to say everything you just said! It really bums me out when this happends. <_<
Especially when i suddenly spawn an assualt rifle in cutscenes. My adept can't even use an assualt rifle :pinched:

if this happened, my Shep would be charging all her enemies before any fight
